More and more people might face a tough time in retirement. Low-paying jobs, inflation, and high rents make it hard to save. Now, middle-class Americans find it tough to own a home too, leaving them without a place to retire.

The increasing prices have impacted my plan to retire at 62, work part-time, and save for the future. I'm concerned about whether those who navigated the 2008 financial crisis had an easier time than I am currently experiencing. The combination of stock market volatility and a decrease in income is causing anxiety about whether I'll have sufficient funds for retirement.

This is precisely why I like having a portfolio coach guide my day-to-day market decisions: with their extensive knowledge of going long and short at the same time, using risk for its asymmetrical upside and laying it off as a hedge against the inevitable downward turns, their skillset makes it nearly impossible for them to underperform. I've been utilizing a portfolio coach for more than two years, and I've made over $800,000.

Like you, my divorce was a good thing. We’d both had enough of eachother. I was single for 10 years living it up. Then I had a hearts attack. Had angioplasty. Went on short term disability and when that came to an end I went back to my job only to find the IRS had closed its doors. There I was. 53, no job. Nobody would hire me because of my heart condition. I lost my house, my car, everything. I had to go live in my Mom’s basement. Long story short, I stood up. Dusted myself off and started all over. Met another Filipina and we’ve been married 19 yrs now.. Financially secure and making sure she’ll stay that way when I croak. A tincture of time heals most wounds. Mine have healed. Good luck to you and Mae. You are both good people.

To say there is a failure of a man's life in the US once past a certain age is no secret. Every man over 50, divorced, and alone experiences what you did. Me too. I found my happiness there like you did. No need to explain or justify yourself. We get one life and might as well enjoy it as best you can. Hats off to you and every other man who's done the same! My X was a diagnosed sociopath so I didn't get the same, what I would call, loving treatment you did. Mine tried to kill me and steal everything.

Life has a way of changing plans. Always. So you went to the P.I. to start over and live the dream of a retired "rich American". And you found relaxation, less stress, decent food and living conditions, etc. Then you and Mae found each other. Good for you and great you were able to see what a good woman is. I said that as soon as I dreaded going to my factory I would sell and retire. God helped and that's exactly what happened. Buyer group called me out of the blue asking if I had considered selling and retiring. Had they called an hour before or an hour after the answer would have been no. Took 6 months to sell and when I got funded my identity as a working man ceased. It's ALL gravy now. And I love it.

There is an old saying (Chinese I believe): the plans are mans but the odds are God’s.

30000 days is the average number of days we have here on this earth. How many do you have left and how are you going to spend them. Borrowed from Sunshine Shoulders. Still hits me everyday.

Hahaha. The gospel according to sunshine shoulders. Well then. I have less than 6000 days left. But I didn't need someone else who is younger than me to tell me that.

You have been a GREAT INSPIRATION to me , to show by example , daresay by the grace of GOD , there may be a life of peace and loving , after some horror and trauma suffered here in the USA. May GOD BLESS YOU AND MAE for many more years... CIAO

Keep your 401k and retirement? Keep everything? X-wife? Are you being realistic? Joint custody? When I got divorce I was working overseas in Kuwait and the judge said I would not get joint custody of my daughter as I was overseas and could not provide 100% support/decisions as to my daughter's well being when I am in the Phils. Really, so I lose my daughter now? I work overseas.

Not a hypocrite but change of heart and kinder, wiser person, and this video made my mind up to retire there and live a simple life with a simple girl if lucky enough, like you Paul.✌️❤️🙏

Paul, I really like how you own your own bumps in the road or "mistakes" or whatever you want to call them. My life has changed for the better since I started doing that. Self accountability can be an empowering thing .

Supersize the house build! Love it. :) Great video. You've built an amazing life for yourself after retiring to the Philippines. Well-done, and good job on doing what you can to take care of Baby Mae once your time has come. Your videos are inspiring to all of us still working in the U.S.
