Matchbox restoration Mercedes Unimog nr 49. Diecast car. Making tires and hook

Mercedes Unimog was produced in 1968. All wheels were missing in my model. There was only a spare wheel. The hook was also broken. This iconic German car looked sensational, but the tires in this model were not very durable. After some time, the material from which they were made stretched and slid off the rims. I made my work based on the spare wheel by the method of pouring plastic hot. As usual, I equipped the model with a box. Super restoration. The base on the Unimog is well detailed, and a highlight of the model. The new box you made is superb, attractive artwork. It's a shame Matchbox never gave it a trailer - even though it has a tow hook. So, I used a Matchbox #51 tipping trailer - the one which goes with the #50 John Deere Lanz tractor. Stripped and repainted the trailer chassis red, and the tipping body blue, so it matches the Unimog colours. The trailer already has yellow wheels, so it looks like a good match for the Unimog.

Great works as always. Your attention to detail and restoration skills are second to none . Just a suggestion, I think you should show what the car what it looked like prior to restoration again at the end right before you show finished product on the carousel. This will give the viewers a better understanding the effort and craftsmanship it takes to transform this Matchbox.

Nice Job Paul as always! I have one but it's superfast version (it only needs painting) and the axle system is different. How can I free the axles without damage it?

Thank you very much. In this model, it is impossible to pull out the axle without riveting it. It seems to me that it would be more convenient to seal the axles with the wheels, preventing them from being painted. Best wishes

I'm looking for cardboard that is white on one side(for printing on) and grey or brown on the other side.

You will find gray without any problem. However, with beige it can be difficult. These cartons made of waste cardboard do not have this stiffness.
