December 1960 I had graduated from highschool and wanted a model A because my brother-in-law had one. I bought one in parts, the body didn't have a firewall or fuel tank. I got a new tank and by July I was driving it to work. I never had any trouble with it. It stayed on blòckß in a garage during college and I drove it in the summer. Wonderful memory.

I rebuilt hundreds of GM carburetors in the 70's and 80's while working for GM both computer controlled and pre computer controlled, but nothing like these. Thanks for the information 👍 and your time. Take care, Mike

About 20 years ago, I had a full frame off restored '36 Ford Tudor (all stock). So many people at the car shows told me it was a waste and not worth much. Everyone wants to cut, chop and make them into hot rods. We are losing part of our history and almost the only thing left are in museums. I want to buy a stock '30 Model A Pick up so that's why I'm watching him explain this and the history. Great video, thank you so much.

@@shawnn6926 Good for you! Too many guys out there ruining original cars to change them into crap sold in hop-up catalogs. You're a purist, so stand your ground and pass along that thinking for people to value cars that are in their original form.

He had a clogged fuel line. The fuel tank had some rust flakes in it and they were all stuck around the outlet and into the shutoff valve. I blew it out and it ran fine.

I tried the Rustoleum Appliance paint. Gas wrinkled the paint! It's almost impossible to find good fuel-resistant paint, but I've had great results with Brodak Jet Black Airplane Dope. A small bottle will easily paint 2 carburetors. I bought it directly from Brodak since no local hobby shop carried it. They have a website; check them out.

You folks ever coat the inside of a gas tank with epoxy? Works pretty well to stop leaks in old tractor tanks to stop leaks at the mount fittings.

I detest tank sealer... I have a 1978 Harley that a previous owner used it in, but it started "flaking" and kept plugging the petcock screen so I finally had to find another set of used tanks!

Hi Paul. Bob explain how to put together the Zenith carb. Perfectly. I'm working on a 1930 AA truck. When I took out the choke needle looks to me it was over tight because it had a endentation. At the tip.. Do you have the settings on this adjustment? Thank you Paul.
@ModelA
@ModelA 3 жыл бұрын
That needs to be "just snug" and no more. I sometimes leave them loose until after the carb is i stalled and THEN tighten the seat. Then, run the "needle" down to where it gets snug and back it off 1/4 turn. Then attach the choke rod.

My carb has ZENITH-1 stamped on it, is the -1 significant. I did an engine s/n check, it was built on 11/18/29. I have no idea if the carb is the original one. Are the worksheets available he is using, I did see a link. Dose he ever use carb cleaner and soak the parts.
@ModelA
@ModelA 3 жыл бұрын
Not significant. It only gives you an idea of who made it and when. Check the Judging Standards for details.
