Do you want to hit driver longer? I bet you do. As much as everyone wants more distance few ever increase their clubhead speed to gain more distance. This is no fault of your own. The ball is the problem.
Pick Up Free Samples of The Body Swing here: bodyswing.com/freesamples/
Golf is the only sport with the ball stationary. With a stationary object sitting in front of you human nature is telling you to hit it and hit it hard. So instead of hitting your driver longer you actually lose club head speed and distance. If you do happen to connect it's luck.
This driver tip explains the 4 things human nature is telling you to do. If you want to hit driver longer you need to go against these 4 things. Once you do, you will increase your clubhead speed which will result in more driver distance.

I appreciate that! It can be confusing for sure because we teachers seems to see the swing differently. I have done the same thing for now 30 years and I know what works and what registers with my students. Simple is the main key. Thanks for the support. Let's play some great golf this year.

In March of 2020 I purchased a walking Golf Club membership with the goal of becoming a par golfer with consistent driving and iron shots (All arms golf). I have been viewing many video's from the top 10 instructors and pro's . Of the top 10 I give Paul #1. I've applied his drills and mind set and like a miracle IT HAPPENED! This morning I had the courage to stop using my arms and used my wrists and hips. I shot a 240 yard effortless drive on the 7th and I had to look down to see it I hit the ball!. Nice "feeling of greatness" Thank You Paul. It works.

Thank you so much. It sure is a great feeling when you see it and do it. This allows you to know that you are on the right track and about to take you game to a whole new level. It really is about letting go completely. People think they are loose when really they need to go 10 times looser. You are on your way. Now please keep this feeling. If so, you will hit it down the middle all day and reach your goal.

Ain’t it amazing how we can be so good at throwing a ball, loading up on the left leg and it’s instep having almost the perfect golf swing, But put a club in our hands and a golf ball on the ground and we can completely abandon this, and want to hit with the arms and hands. Theoretically I should be a great golfer. I could throw a ball further than just about anyone else, when I was younger. I’m letting your videos brainwash out of me years and years of trying to hit with the arms and hands. I’m going to get there. I know what you are talking about. However there was a time for a long time when I didn’t have the intellect to receive it. I wasn’t ready to receive it. When the student is ready the teacher will appear. All I can say is, better late than never. Thank you Paul
@paulwilsongolf
@paulwilsongolf Жыл бұрын
That is because of human nature. I wrote about this in my first book published in 2001 yet no one is talking about it. Golf is the only game with the ball stationary. This allows human nature to tell you to hit the object and hit it hard. In doing so, you will take the easy way out and hit solely with the arms. So from ball 1 an adult hits they have done it the wrong way. If you have the experience of being a good thrower of the ball you need to memorize this feeling and apply it to your shots. This is the way to power your swing. You need to watch these: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nNt_fdunxJiWeJ8.html Then: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/beBlmLiUuN3Qg58.html Then every day you hold the club at kneed high and do practice swings feeling this action. I would watch this one too: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/na-gZ8yXsNu-eas.html (listen carefully to what I say in that one) I do not give my exact positions away on youtube. I hint at it in this one.

Yes. It really took a while for me to understand “swing first then naturally hit a ball squarely” vs. “just want to hit a ball”. My experience tell me as long as I have a mindset wanting to hit a ball, then I am using my arms. I just need to trust if I swing a club correctly (i.e. grip, setup, backswing and follow through) then I can perfectly hit a ball.

Huge fan of this swing. I play to an 8, and walk on alot and everyone I play with are always surprised how far I hit it because of the effortless motion. I am also 60 yrs old, and play 6500 yd courses. The full body works out of greenside bunkers also. I made the change 3 years ago because I was sore after each round. No longer a problem. Great tips Paul. I have watched a lot of your videos and while I haven't really added distance I have done the same distance more consistently and with less effort. The only nit picking I will do on this one is that I, like a lot of amateurs, tend to sway too much in the swing and the best way to keep from doing it is to try to keep the head still. I think if you try to put your weight on your right side your head might move a little naturally but if you purposely move your head to your right side its going to do too much so and promote swaying. Kind of like your point about not bumping or sliding your hips on the downswing because if you make the right turn and follow through that hip slide will happen on its own. Just my two cents.
@paulwilsongolf
@paulwilsongolf 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I did say move the head and load the weight on the instep. Swaying is a huge problem. So feel the weight 80% on the instep as you hit the top.

Thank you. Exciting times. Now 500k then 1M. I move my head a lot. I typically say 3-5". Jim McLean measured pro head movement in July 2001 golf digest. Tour average was 3.6" amateur average was .7. I would move it as much as you can so long as the weight is on your instep of the back foot at the top.

After watching Tiger’s son Charlie Woods reach the green on his second shot on a Par 5 with a fairway metal, I realized that he implements the same concept you are teaching. He can’t be stronger than me so how did he do it? Obviously he’s using his lower body and hips plus the timing of his upper body where his arms and loose wrists just follow. I watched his swing in slow motion and it’s exactly like your hip rotation and your lag drills. Your “back to the ball” hip rotation has helped me the most and repetition. Thank you for your great lessons.
@paulwilsongolf

He sure does. Every good player is using the lower body. Just switch the power source. It has to feel like you are not hitting or helping the shot in any way with the arms. If you are not using your arms you have to be using your body.

Thanks. I started lifting mine a few years ago. I didn't even know I was doing it. I am fine with it lifting a little. Let's say no more than about 2" unless you are 85 years old and have a severely limited shoulder turn. At that point I would say turn any way you can. For these young flexible players I would say keep it down. I am older and super-tight and have been really working on coiling more so I have started to lift it. If you are like me then lift it a little. Once you are confident with it then stop thinking about it. That alone can drive you crazy.

Bruce Lee’s strength comes from Lee controlling his entire body with pinpoint precision. Instead of relying on just a punch, Lee started with explosive knee extension, which twisted his hips, which thrust his shoulder and arm forwards. This is relatable to your teachings. Thank you Paul

Hi Paul...a friend suggested I check out your video of hitting irons better because of the loose wrists. Fabulous video and I have almost binged your entire set. I have been a arms/hands player and have been struggling to say the least. I’m a relatively seasoned player who handicaps in the single digits but when I was following your drill I experienced a freedom with my swing and knew it was time to check the body swing. So I played today and knew that I would probably score poorly as it was my first time out with a different swing philosophy. But I was actually quite surprised with my game. Where I got into trouble was on the back nine when I began focusing on my hips and before I knew it I was all over the place. So my question is how to swing without thinking of a certain body part......I need to be able to just swing....will certain drills ingrain that ability to be effortless and know that I am sequencing properly? Thank you Peter

That's great. Thanks for checking them out. Making changes take time but I'm glad you some some promising results. This is what is coming if you keep working on it. You need to work on this more and know the moves then bring it to the course. Can't be thinking too much out there. You are coiling and uncoiling. Hinging and rehinging. Then you are not trying to hit or help the shot with your arms. So you work on the grip first here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oLeKf9Npx6yRh6s.html With that grip start hinging and rehinging here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bMCVh9SU35jUnXk.html you can even hit some: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qcBiYMeitMfZo4k.html once you get that you are attaching the arm unit to your body. You coil going back then uncoil as I show in tons of my hip tips. Keep at it and give it time. You will be amazed.

Paul what are your thoughts on some of the training aids out there that shield or hide the ball from sight when hitting shots (can't remember the specific names, but I think there are a few of them that do this out there)? Can these be useful in taking the ball out of the equation when practicing?

For a while there I was looking for one I saw so I could try it. Could never find it. I like the concept more for beginners. The might work but I'm not sure. If you find them let me know. The whole problem is hitting hard with the arms. The harder you hit, it's human nature to look to see what you hit plus this hitting contracts your arm muscles. Need to stop hitting. Also, watch and work on this: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jsWgeZqpkrWniIk.html kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rbeXir1-sc2nYY0.html

Paul, Pete here from NZ. I’ve been following you recently and love your stuff! It aligns with some swing thoughts I’ve been working on recently and my game is really beginning to improve, thanks. I’ve come down from a 24 handicap 2 years ago to 13 handicap at the moment. However I’m a bit perplexed about you suggesting moving your head back in the backswing, as most of the pros seem to keep their head very steady throughout the swing. Apart from coming over the top which you have helped me with, my main problem is that my head often moves forward with the downswing and I end up with a pull. So I have to focus on keeping my head behind the hit, and then letting it come up in my finish. I’m not sure if allowing my head to move back in the backswing is going to be good for me or not. Thoughts? Cheers, Pete
@paulwilsongolf
@paulwilsongolf 3 жыл бұрын
Glad you like the tips. Thanks. You are not looking close enough at pros head position in the backswing. Watch their left ear relative to the background. You will clearly see the head movement. Also, Jim McLean in the July 2001 issue of golf digest measure head movement of pros into the backswing. Tour average head movement was 3.6" Amateur average was .7" meaning pros move their head while ams don't. Tiger at his best moved 5". So from setup you are coiling back allowing the head to move and weight to load into your back instep/heel at the top. You fire the lower. Your head will move a tiny bit forward as you start to uncoil and allow the weight to shift then it goes back by the time you hit the ball. So keeping your head back is a great thought to stop it coming over the top. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gseWp61e3qyboIk.html Also, watch this one: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/beBlmLiUuN3Qg58.html kzfaq.info/get/bejne/arinlbefqa_IeWg.html kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rd-HhJyktK7KXY0.html

I am trying to get used to it. Maybe you do the same. Not sure what yours is from but I also connected with Jorge Mendoza at speed-health.com Might want to check him out. I went to 4 doctors. He cured it and I have never even met him. It just started to hurt again the other day due to really firing hard off the right side. Other than that I had zero pain for about 6 months. Well, he did pre-set his head to the right. Tiger at his best moved his head 5" Jim McClean July 2001 he measured pros heads at set up and at the top. Tour average was 3.6" of head movement. Amateur average was .7 of an inch. You don't play any other sport or do any athletic motion without moving your head. You want to try it go ahead. Be prepared for pulls, pull hooks, pull slices and no distance. Also, jsut pick out some pros and watch their heads. You will see they move going back.
