Of course that what they do! But if I had something that I think was worth of great value I would ask them to “bring in your expert” and let him make the appraisal first. Then I’d see if it would be around the amount I want.

@@scotthamp384 It's cool because it's the traditional way that the actual Samurai would have disassembled their swords. If you see enough episodes with Mike, he knows absolutely everything about how the blades are meant to be handled. He's my favorite expert on the show--even better than Rebecca and the coin guy.

I think Mike is 1 of the more straight up experts on this show. I don't think I have seen him much on the KZfaq pawn stars scenes & it's probably because he's more honest than the others. Corey pulled another fast one with this holy trail item, and the guy should have got himself closer too 6000! I would have tried 2 deal with Mr. Kawasaki

The first sword I owned I had found at a garage sale for $15 and sold it to Mike Yamasaki for $1,750. Met him down at the Tampa show in 2013 but he didn't attend the 2017 show or the Atlanta show. Would really like to chat with him about swords some more.

As someone who enjoys history there is no way I would sell that unless I was desperate for money. And taking the family on a vacation would not be a good reason for me to do it.
