John Jenks nope firstly you need a great engineer to make one secondly you would need to have the money to fund it the place to put it alot of workers you would need to have it aged like it would be after decades wich is impossible and you also need approval of the government and a liscense to make a train so it’s pretty much impossible

If I had the means, I would buy those in a heartbeat. I'd even go so far as to buy an old abandoned train station, somewhere that was connected to the main lines, to restore and convert into a home. And buy an engine to pull them. Then all I'd have to do is have a small custom made garage car, and I'd be all set.

@gwechoochoo
@gwechoochoo 6 жыл бұрын
SeeOurWrecks ....Most likely it still has Friction Barring Trucks. That can only be moved at 10mph. Whoever buys it would have to put another Million into it to make it track worthy, and then have to pay storage too. As expensive as model railroading is, it only gets more so with real cars and engines.
@jacobwoods8738
@jacobwoods8738 6 жыл бұрын
SeeOurWrecks HEP, couplings, glazing, trucks, easily $1 million. $200,000 in wiring, another 200 in wheels, probably some roof work, definitely kitchen work (and that’s the the 1902 CB&Q Car, The our Car is a C&S Car (acquire by CB&Q) and is of wooden construction. That also might hamper this car as well, depending on what percentage of it is wood.

These train cars were owned by Bob Snow, who founded Church Street Station entertainment complex in Orlando. (Eventually Snow sold the Orlando complex and tried a similar venture in Vegas in the 80s but failed, which is why these train cars were there.) I was a waiter at his Orlando restaurant Lily Marlene's in the late 70s, and often walked over to Snow's train cars to serve him his dinner. Bob was known as an eccentric among his staff, most of whom were frightened of him and his outbursts. But I didn't mind, as it gave me a chance to get outside for a few minutes and have a smoke. Life was good.

In 200 years 1M$ will be worth around 1800$ of todays money due to inflation. The question is how much more wealthy people will be.

101001 Unless you live in less populated states, 1 million dollars no longer makes you super uber duper rich. That amount of money can buy you a shabby one bedroom one bathroom home in San Francisco.

The funniest thing is that like any boat, aircraft, RV or Bus and as expensive as the items might seem it's really not about the purchase but is all about the storage and the maintenance...

“You mind helping me sell this train Rick?” Rick: *Sighs* “It’s gonna be a tough sell, gonna sit for a while, and I gotta frame it up. With that being said, I’ll take a 50% commission”

What a cool looking car. If you ever get a chance, you should go to Elbe Washington, and check out the Rail car inn. It's a restaurant made of rail cars from the same era as this one.

These things are absolutely beautiful. Hildene, (Robert Lincoln's estate in Vermont) has one of these out back because Robert was President of Pullman Cars for a while. Only a handful of these left in the world. Fun fact- my uncle is a direct descendant of George Pullman
