I actually did a book report on Lolita in the late 50s and the teacher accepted it with an odd look. I stressed the writing quality and structure of the book not the subject matter. Found out quite a while later that teacher had not read the book but graded my report as if he had. Got an A.

I recommend reading this novel. It is so beautifully-written, despite the subject matter. You’ll probably want to have a dictionary or thesaurus handy, as well. The vocabulary is pretty advanced, as I recall.
