Being a Lionel collector there are few things that I agree with and disagree with this clip. One, they should not have split the set. As a collector, I am looking for a complete set because it makes the set be more valuable in the long run. Also, that is primarily what standard gauge is known for. Two, the price was moderate. Yes, it is not a rare set, they have to make money, and the condition was rough, but I think at $1,000 there would have been a big enough resale margin. Overall, I would have paid for what the seller was asking and even ask if the accessories were for sale as well. In particular, the street lamp. Original street lamps from 1923 are extremely rare and go for crazy prices. In the end, I think this was a moderate deal, better than others, but I'm only voicing my opinion from a collectors vew point.

I cried after watching this. They had no respect for the sentimental values. He bargained for $50 =90 years behind with full functional train..it reminds me when I had to sell my most valuable loveable items for a dirt when I didn’t have a job and feed four kids snd pay rent...it was just shameful time. The worst part was that I went to pawn shop owned by my friend to whom I always invited them at home and when I went to sell my most valuable items he literally offered pennies. That night I cried so much.

THIS. I grew up in the 80s and was blessed with a dad that loved his old Lionel trains, and he worked on the railroad. So, this type of stuff was a big part of my life. Still is. The railway industry put food on our table and clothes on our back, and to have toys that represented the real thing, were fun to play with and even worked with my GI Joe stuff....it was just a lot of fun. I miss these old toys, that time, my dad....all of it. I would have give that guy a couple of thousand bucks for that particular set. It appeared to be a nice one.
