No, he didn’t. Finally, someone with more common sense than instant gratification. If she could possibly get her grandpa to talk or failing that, one of her older relatives who was tight with her grandfather, then maybe she could trace it back. That would be fantastic. I’m rooting for the girl.

Uh, no. Yamamoto DID know Americans, Rick. All too well. He went to college at Harvard, for crying out loud. After the attack on Pearl, Yamamoto said, "I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with terrible resolve." Couldn't have hit the nail more squarely on the head! Cheers....

Actually, Rick, Yamamoto spent time in the US prior to WWII, studying at Harvard University 1919-21 and later serving as naval attache to the Japanese embassy in Washington, and understood the American psyche quite well. He planned the Pearl Harbor attack as a good, loyal soldier in the Imperial Navy. Yamamoto travelled extensively during his time in the US and studied American customs and business practices. He was the one who warned that the results of an attack by Japan on the US would be to "awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with resolve." This is all well known. I got a lot of it off Wikipedia. I know you can't know everything, but if you're putting it out there for the general public to consume as they drool in front of the TV, perhaps it would be best to at least give the poor suckers who zombify themselves watching your show some accurate information.
