Thanks for the video. One thing that I did when tramming the Y-axis on my Vasto was to use the blade from an old set of feeler gauges as a shim. Wedging that in when I mounted the spindle provided just enough offset to make everything perpendicular.

You can get these lines from side pressure on your cutting tool as well. If your machine is not rigid, it.may never go away. A radius on the cutting edge will help.

Yes, that can happen but on these small machines it most likely the tram

Shouldn't you check the gantry at both sides of the spoil board ? To be sure there is no twist in the gantry itself ? Kind regards Hans

There is nothing wrong with checking that as well. Some CNC machine have an allowance so that you can adjust for that while others are rigid.

Great video PawPaw. I do have one question. . . .before tramming the CNC,should you surface the spoil board. This sounds like its doesn't make sense but then again, I think we should first see if the spoil board is flat in itself. Am I missing something?

No, tram first. If you are not perfectly tram you will create ridges when you surface the wasteboard.

You still need to tram the head. You are only checking the gantry.

I know your a big time creator but could or would you think of calling me and helping get through the tram on my xcarve 1000mm I just bought it new and it’s together but I notice it’s cuts are different from time to time

If it is cutting differently from one carve to the next you have a mechanical issue. The belts may be loose or the wheels need adjusting.

@@PawPawsWorkShop I’m a go home and cut a square piece and then take some evaluation of the cuts. My belts are tight, I’m not exactly sure how the wheels should be far as tolerance. I know I got the z squared. Now the z axis where the 4 button head screws are how far should it be slid into washers and bolts
