Biggest issue with Warriors, Erin's make a billion characters and only focus on like a handful of them(mostly firestar's relatives). Soo glad to see you actually fixed this in your rewrite. A lot of us fans mess around in our heads about "well what if this happened, or this, that and the other" but you actually went far beyond that, and that's soo impressive, congratulations.

I'd also like to mention a couple series-wide changes you made that I hope aren't too spoilery! First is the choice to actually have cats address their parents as "Mom" or "Dad", which rarely if ever happens in canon but further emphasizes your goal of making personal relationships shine. Second is the fact that spirits don't ever "fade" if they're killed, just respawn in the Dark Forest or Starclan, which is a change in the lore.

(SPOILERS FOR THAT BOOK BELLOW) Tigerstar makes some really good points that if you look at his ideas in a vacuum, theoretically, he's kinda right, Wich makes you go like "ugh I know he's evil and all but like, some of his ideas and arguments are kinda right?" Like with the cats having to fight all the time and the borders only keeping them separated, but them you start to notice that his only reason for wanting that is power, and then you realize that he's not right, but also not _totally_ wrong

I love how you made berrynose likable instead of the obnoxious brat he is in cannon

I would actually have Berrynose mentor Ivypaw and Cinderheart mentor Dovepaw. Berrynose because it would feed into Ivypaw’s resentment and desire to have a better mentor. Cinderheart because she would be a sufficient mentor, but doesn’t really understand Dovepaw’s desire to befriend cats from other Clans.

This rewrite is absolutely amazing! I love how much more attention sunny gives the characters. But if there’s ONE thing that should really be added to the main series is the boost-trap paradox take. The whole power thing is left unexplained in the series, it’s like the authors didn’t even know what to do with it. This paradox gives so much more meaning to interactions with the ancients and adds such a major twist! It’s just so top notch and elegant compared to the actual series. I was blown away with this take of the threes powers. plus, nothing would have to changed in the main series a drastic amount other than a couple dark forest interactions, what Jayfeather directly tells halfmoon, and how much power the dark forest has over starclan. Having the prophecy be rendered useless was just so dramatic! Lionblaze is the whole reason the dark forest rose to so much power. Jayfeather sacrificed his whole life for the prophecy that meant nothing and he was the one who accidentally created it in the first place. He literally ruined his own life. It’s just so great- good job sunny fall!

You've done a MASSIVE project and more importantly; You've had the willpower to let the story tell itself rather than overshare. That is not easy and I applaud you for pulling it off.

I really love your rewrite! The best way I think I can sum up the way that I feel about Paws of Stars is that I remember who these characters are, I remember their motivations and interests and the their relationships with the other cats. I love little slice of life stories, so this just ticks off all the right boxes for me.

i have loved this series! i did come in later, when i first discovered your channel last year, but i have enjoyed reading every paws of stars fic, i love everything in it, the characters and their relationships and the story is much better then in canon. i'll be sad to read the final book, but i am also excited to see what could come next

imo using Ebonystar was kind of a missed opportunity to give Maggottail some character, he was a leader of the dark forest in canon and didn't really get much

The way I see that, Paws of Stars wouldn't be canon compliance, it would technically be canon divergence, since you're taking key points from the original source material and making a separate timeline with it, thus altering it. If you did make Paws of Stars canon compliant, you'd change little to nothing about it, but since you yourself said you'd change some things and even made your own alternate timeline with it, you made your "rewrite" canon divergent. Hope that helped a little

Damn it must be weird reading the canon books and seeing characters do stuff that your versions of them would never do

Just finished the final book about... one or two hours ago, on a plane. I kid you not, I cried through most of the flight reading this, and it takes quite a bit for me to cry over a book. (Also writing this comment from the airport because I cannot stop thinking about these stories now.) I also finished the whole series in about three weeks, it was that good - and every new entry better than the one before. Book one was nice, but book seven was a treasure. (Next section might have mild spoilers for the general vibe of the books but I'll keep it vague) So in just seven books, Sunny fixed, to as far a degree as possible within the constraints of the Warriors universe, - the personalities, or rather lack thereof, of a bunch of background characters - LGBTQ+ representation - ableism and disability representation - sexism and gender imbalance - family relations, the role of blood kinship, parentage and siblings - the Tribe and their role in the story - the Ancients - the lack of female villains - powers - Brambleclaw - Hollyleaf - the Dark Forest - StarClan - the warrior code - the medicine cat code - Power of Three, Omen of the Stars, and oddly enough, A Light in the Mist if not most of The Broken Code and almost even parts of A Starless Clan (in my opinion) - and probably more things that I forgot because I'm sleep deprived from reading and wouldn't have it any other way The series is superbly written (sure, there are some minor errors, inconsistencies and odd elements... but we'd expect the same from the Erins, if Heavystep is any indication), and the ending feels like the perfect springboard for something of a soft warriors reboot: the same universe, but changed. And yet for some reason there's one tiny, offhand comment that I almost loved above it all: Dustpelt's remark that Sandstorm was born a rogue. No relevance to the story, no big reveal, just a puzzle piece of worldbuilding that just FIT and was wonderful. Thank you.

I have been working on a rewrite of the first arch and a few books before that (not as books like this but still a rewrite), which combines a few different aus in the fandom. Medicine cats can have kits au, Snowfur lives au (where she becomes Snowstar!), Scourge joins the clans au (he is made Ash and Ferns father instead of Whitestorm), if Mosskit lives au (she ends up going to shadowclan with her siblings, super complicated), Yellowfangs daughters live au, Tigerclaw is good au, and a bunch of other stuff. I have been sniffing out every rewrite and au of warriors for inspiration so this is amazing and I am reading and rereading your books 5 times I don't even care.

I'm a little late to the party, as I wanted to re-read the first six books before the last one, but here's the comment I made under the last chapter of Paws of Stars: ''I enjoyed Paws of Stars so much! Power of Three and Omen of the Stars were my favorite story ever between 9 and 14 years old, and continue to have a big impact on what I value in books. As I've grown older, its flaws have been more and more obvious to me, and I started to wish it could be changed. At first, it was just small things, but after a while, there were important decisions made by the series that I realized I disagreed with. I also began seeing that writing what something I enjoyed doing, and I started to wonder if I might be able to create an improved version of it, a story that would live up to what I saw in it as a child. ...Who knows, I may still accomplish this dream one day, but for now, I want to write original stories, and I'm happy to have Sunnyfall's version instead. Not every decision taken by her is exactly what I would have done, that would be literally impossible, but it was remarkably close, and she's thought of many good ideas that I'm sure I never would have.
