*how to get good at rl:* - find good camera settings, deadzone settings, and controls (please turn off camera shake oml) - learn when to use ball cam and car cam - find a good youtuber and use their advice, tutorials, and training packs (squishy muffinz' beginner guide and wayton pilkin's beginner videos as well as their channels in general are good starting points) - mess around in free play a ton it's the best way to develop muscle memory and get a feel for the game - find custom training packs for low ranks/beginners online - watch good players and pick up on stuff - just play the game a lot

Having ball cam on 90% of the time makes the game significantly easier.

Lethamyr's Road to SSL series contains a good amount of info on things that you can be working on as you go through the ranks. That said, simply practicing fundamentals and getting a good idea of how to make your car do what you want is enough to get you to at least high Gold- low Platinum. And yes, getting good at this game takes a very long time cuz it's purely mechanical skill.

My smile after seeing a rocket league video from Gold after literally years of wanting it. So happy. Edit: if you want to get better at Rocket League, jump onto free play and just hit the ball around. Just seeing how the ball moves around and when to time hits makes a massive difference. Some things most RL players would suggest: turn off camera shake, use ball cam sometimes to just figure out where the ball is without having to turn around, watch what people do when near the ball as most in lower ranks just panic when near the ball, and free play is huge for getting used to how driving and hitting the ball works. As someone with thousands of hours played, I would love to see some RL content on main channel at any level.

To show my credibility, I am a Grand Champ player who played collegiately under coaching of the pro coach "Jimmer" who is coach of Limitless and formerly Splyce/Charlotte Phoenix. Now, I will say Rocket League is so much more fun when you're not good at it. However, if you want to get better, start with the in-game training maps, they are laid out well. Also, like Smash, cars have different hitboxes and the cars pros use are Octane, Fennec, Dominus, and Breakout because they have better hitboxes. Also, you should be using ball cam 99% of the time, inky use free cam to line up for boost grabs. Learning rotations is huge too. Once you've gotten use to ball cam and custom controls and done the in-game practice tools, if you have it on Steam, you can use community maps like Rings to get use to aerial control. If you're on Epic, for aerial control, do figure-8's around the pillars in freeplay on the map "Pillars". After that, most things you'll learn by spending time on freeplay. Learning process is much like Smash I feel. Hope this helps you guys!

I love that you guys are interested in Rocket League. I think rl is the easiest esport to get into and is the most entertaining, especially if you are rooting for a specific team. As far as getting better, you would be surprised how much tutorial vids and free play helps.

I played 6 hours of this game in my life. With a high elo friend. He showed me the base mechanics and then we started with training mods. The onces in which you fly through rings. After 2hours grinding that mod we go back in game and everything feels different. There are mods for dribbling to. So i imagine you can grind a mod for a few hours, gp back in game, do a different training mod, go back in game. Maybe it's a funny video idea (for next year ;) )

alpha wanted some advice for rl The best thing you can do right now is just set up good camera and controller settings you don't want to end up being used to default controls and camera. For camera you can just look at a pros settings you like, and for controls put air roll left, and right, to their respective bumpers, and then put drift to either air roll bumper, then switch boost from b to x if on xbox controller, or circle to square on ps4/5. Hope this advice helps coming from an ok GC player too stubborn to switch now, also ball cam is your friend to you and your viewers, you should really only be turning it off when your dribbling, or on the wall. Of course, as you get better this won't always apply, you have to know how to follow the rules before you break them or something like that.

The two cubes means Joe is getting packet loss, where the server and client info are not communicating well together

Like flying though rings, dribble challenges, and mods let you play them with other people so it doesn't get boring solo.

genuinely the in game training is top tier in this game, the basics helped me a bunch and then I found out about the custom training and it's great. I'm in plat rn and it is so similar to smash in terms of the gsp climb, sometimes you gotta play a genuine game of silver RL and that's never fun but most people are horrible.

Spookluke is a good KZfaq channel to learn rocket league, although at your level just about anyone that knows rocket league could help with fast improvement, or just messing around getting comfortable with basic movements and strategy also works

If you guys are gonna be playing more I recommend playing on ball cam only until you get used to it and look up good camera settings, the default ones feel terrible and everyone hates them

Training mode is probably the best way to learn mechanics in rocket league. People have codes online you can use to get proper training.

rocket league is my shit !!! 1500 hours and won a college tourney once - you only get better as you play more - change your camera and control schemes, especially bind Air Rolls - always drive over the small boost pads when ur driving around - learn the standard rotations (which is usually pass to a teammate then go to defense) - try to always have ball cam on - ball has a shadow directly underneath it at all times to help you line up
