Having my ferrets is single handedly the most emotional experience I’ve ever had in my life🙃 they’ve been the biggest blessing and also the worst decision I’ve made at the same time lol.. I’ve never loved anything as much as I love the ferrets thus when they leave the earth… my heart is destroyed🫠

I free-roam my 2 ferrets, but I thought most ferret people think that you should have a big cage to keep them in. I never bought a cage at all. I have a kennel thing I can put them in if there's some kind of emergency, but otherwise, they run the house. We keep the doors closed to the rooms we don't want them in and we had to attach pieces of wood to the bottom of the doors so the ferrets can't get under them. I'm so glad I found someone that sees the cage thing the same way I do! Thank you for doing these videos & being brutally honest 🥰

What a beautiful video. It made me cry. We had ferrets for years, kept them outdoors free range in our yard. Had a heated hutch they used for sleeping. No mess, no smells. Beautiful, courageous creatures. I loved them.

I thin the bond you have with Pazu is a connection such as a soul mate, your bond is truly special and you don't find it very often with animals, I've had that experience myself and it was truly a unique bond to witness. Thank you for making another educational video, I think it's really important to raise awareness on ferrets and their care especially right before the holidays. They're not easy animals and not for everyone, that's for sure. I really appreciate these types of videos, and it's good to see you again ! Pazu looks so fluffy. I hope you have a wonderful day.

I work in a pet store that sells ferrets and I was working with the new ferrets that came in (babies) and one bit the shit out of my and latched onto my face. The little bugger scratched me up so badly. I was pissing her off because she wasn't feeling well and I was picking at some stuff on her coat. It was totally my fault she bit me, but its comes with working with animals or having animals. People will act surprised when they get bit by an animal when they don't watch for any body language. Ferret bites are no joke either. I always tell people that you can tell the difference between a play ferret bite and an 'aggressive' ferret bite is the damage. Any animal will do damage if they want to.

you addressed "kit blues" in an old video and feeling of doubt, "was this a good idea" "should i bring them back" etc and i am so thankful that you are going more into details about these things because i really went through that a couple weeks ago after getting my little fur ball, and i had been doing months of research before deciding and i was not prepared for all the things you precisely mentioned here. this is so important, so thank you ! also, RIP the wooden flooring of my rented apartment after potty training 😅 thanks again, cheers from France !

I have 2 ferrets and 2 cats. Everyone gets sling well and has their spaces. Ferrets free roam except bedtime. Bedtime exists so I can clean the mess! Thank you for addressing the potty training. Gideon is much better about potty box usage. Elliot is not. It's just a fact of our lives. Yes I get frustrated and yes it's a lot of work. I'm so glad you included this. And the ferret community as well. The community as a whole will tell you you should have well trained potty habits. At least with mine. That's not true. And I do clean up accidents. Daily. Nature's Miracle is absolutely amazing. It's pricey but it's worth every penny! Especially since I do rent. But if you're a new ferret mom and you think you're going to lose your damn mind. You are not alone! But I simply cannot be mad at them. Even when I am mad at them they scurry by being all cute and their "punishment" is being called a demon noodle. Which results in a happy dance and me rolling my eyes and laughing.

Speaking of communities- it's the same way with chickens, ducks and other poultry. There's a HUGE online community for people with backyard chickens. This community CAN be VERY aggressive. Their tone can be know it all, condescending, and like you said...stuck in their ways, and it's their way, or the highway. I have read SOOO much incorrect information on those forums, and I totally agree- not just with ferrets- but with any animal community type place. It's like mean girls- but with animals. 'You can't sit with us' type attitudes can be rampant. So, whether for ferrets or any other animals....just be careful- there can be a LOT of baaaaad information being circulated. Buuut not here! I had ferrets back in the late 90s, and we ONLY caged our ferrets when we left to go somewhere. That was because we felt it was best. If something were to happen when no one was home, that would be heartbreaking. So ours had run of the whole house (well the top and middle 2 floors, not the basement as it was not ferret friendly) and had a proper diet (I also feed my dogs raw, etc etc) so I can attest to the information on this channel being of the best that I've come across (I am an animal behavorialist and it bothers me when people give other people incorrect info- which is detrimental to the animals they are speaking about) so I commend you on doing your best to give ferret people and potential ferret people the best info!!! Keep up the most excellent work!

My ferret follows me around the house and I feel so grateful when he climbs on my bed and cuddles me. I have never felt such a connection with an animal before. I love his kisses and when we play together. I hope that I can build a bond with my new ferret too I wanted my baby to have a playmate and a partner. They seem to be getting along great my ferrets are free roam they have full access to my room and when I go downstairs I let them go down with me. I am working on potty training and bite training with my new ferret I give him treats when he doesn't bite. I love my ferrets so much I want to give them a good and happy life. I have done tons of research with your videos and your website. I appreciate your videos and what you do for ferrets.

I absolutely adore my ferrets and will never be without them ,but they are not an easy pet and too many people rush into getting them then regrets it .Many feed them inappropriately when they should be meat and whole prey fed it makes me sad.😢My ferrets go in cage to bed at 8 pm then are let out in the morning .Great video as always.I agree they do not make good pets for children 100% .

Oh I also just remembered the vet bills the daily medicine that they take when they get older, I’ve seen people thinking about getting a ferret and stopped and told them don’t get a ferret, cuz I know how most of them play out they love em for a little while the start to neglect them, and I wish I had enough money and room 😂 to adopt them all, it bothers me a lot how many are out there in a bad home 😢

I have to say I absolutely love all 5 of my ferrets and they are freeroam I give them a lot of freedom but the one thing that came with owning my ferrets is there poop have destroyed my carpet it is so hard to get stains and smells up no matter how much I keep up with it and how many peepee pads I put down I'm at a loss in that department! And they've destroyed my couch lol

It’s the one big downside to ferrets!! I’m so happy we don’t have carpet in our rental. I’m sure it would be bad! I’ve already gone through two large area rugs. One of them was white and it started turning brown from their skin oils…

I’d probably keep them separate as best you can. Just because an outdoor cat is more prone to bringing in pests and illness like fleas, ticks, distemper etc. that could harm the ferrets. Even when on preventatives cats still get those things

Our 2 cats never bothered the ferrets. But I would recommend getting the cats used to the ferrets under supervision. A scared cat can easily kill a ferret under stress. Just get them used to each other.

How do you make sure ferrets get enough taurine while feeding raw? (it's a genuine question I want ferrets in the next few years and wanna make sure everything is done right)
@Pazuandfriends
@Pazuandfriends Жыл бұрын
Great question! As long as they are getting enough taurine rich foods in their diet (heart, beef tongue etc.) they should be getting enough. I prefer heart for this, and feeding it as ~10% of their diet. If you feed premade grinds, the grinding process does deplete taurine (it seeps out into the water during processing) so always make sure to feed the leftover liquids from the container of food. You can also add a taurine powder. The Alnutrin product I feed contains taurine. Hope this helps

My husband REFUSES to allow my son to get a second ferret. I realize they do better in pairs but he is allowed to play in my sons room during the day, we allow him free roam of the entire house for a couple hours a day and he is really only in his kennel at night. Any recommendations on how to keep him happy and playful being an only ferret? I definitely dont want him to feel lonely.

Is it normal for a ferret to intentionally go for a child's throat/neck with intentions to cause harm?? Our son loves my 2 boys and my 1 boy Nugget climbs on him then try's to go for his neck/throat and has bit our son hard and drew bl00d!! He's done this like 3 different times and it wasn't no accident! It's like he's hunting and trying to go for his neck to unalive him like a ferret would a rabbit! Nugget only does this with our son and my fiancee and I don't understand why.... we have had Nugget and Kibble for 3 years now and Nug has never done this before until a month ago. Hopefully you can give us some insight to why he's trying to end our son or least trys to end him🥺😅💀 Our son (5 years old) isn't rough with either of my boys and is supervised very closely during their free roam time which they both get 5 hours daily out of cage time. We even feed them before they go out to play now because I think a full belly will stop Nug from going at his throat but that didn't help....Please help!!

Honestly that doesn’t surprise me. Some ferrets really love the smell of babies. My Momo loves biting and nipping on soft skin too. I would keep them apart until your son is older! I have a feeling my Momo would act the same way !

@asherweinerman400 Жыл бұрын
Ferrets love to go for the neck-just watch them do it with each other, either in play or to establish a dominance hierarchy. Teach your son to not let them near his neck. Also the more free roam time they get, the more gentle they will be. No cage is best.
@guinealumps8736
@guinealumps8736 Жыл бұрын
@@Pazuandfriends Thank you for replying, I appreciate that! Nugget smells his head then goes straight for his neck so you're probably right that ferrets like the smell of babies because he always ALWAYS sniffs before he strikes. Our son won't like not being able to play with them because he's been around them both since they were 2 months old but for now we must protect him which is way more important to us. Just sucks because he really loves them, I just wish this random harmful behavior ever started happening🥺. Again thank you for replying, it helped!
@guinealumps8736

@@asherweinerman400 I've watched ferrets hunt rabbits and noticed the neck area is their go to kill spot, I just never thought for a second he'd attack our son who is someone Nug is very familiar with! Nugget has been around him since he was 2 months old so it just makes no sense to why this behavior started out of nowhere, our other ferret Kibble isn't like that at all but he was never a bitter even when he was a 3 month old baby when we got him unlike Nugget was... I understand establishing dominance and all that but this is aggression right??? Nug drew blood and left deep teeth indents in our son's neck... just crazy to me! We'll keep Nug away from him until he's older and let him know to keep him far away from his head and neck, but I think it's best to keep him away till he's older. I can also try more free roam time, I think their cage seems to be trapping or pints up negativity, stress, and frustration in them... I think I'm the problem not so much Nugget because he's cooped up and not out long enough..idk.
