Main reason why I won’t get a ferret,at least one from here in the states,I’d rather import one from the uk where they are ethically bred and fed a natural diet.

Hello, I worked at Marshalls for many years. Some of what you said is absolutely correct, some is exaggerated and some is just factually incorrect. Some random thoughts: I believe Marshall's is the largest producer of ferrets in the world, not just usa. I think we were selling around 150k a year. Gilman started out breeding ferrets for hunting rabbits as they would "ferret" them out of their holes then he started selling the surplus. He and his wife Ina were very nice people and treated their employees very well. Due to the high taxes, there are very few jobs in rural NY so many people worked here out of necessity. Gilman took good care of his employees and made millionaires via a generous retirement. Wayne country employment options are basically Marshall Farms, the school or an apple farm (we are one of the countries largest supplier of apples) We didn't really do much research at the facility, we mostly sold the animals to labs that did. Many of our clients were colleges, so thats where some of your tuition is going. We had lots of vets from around there world, many from Cornell, working on the genetics. They are much better than you'd find from a mom and pop breeder, this is a smear campaign as is much of the content referenced in the bio. When the animal liberation front started breaking in in the early 2000s they took pictures of ferret cages crusted with feces. This was just wet food which is blended on prem and dispensed to the cages. The mice and flies were a constant battle. You need proper ventilation for the buildings to prevent ammonia buildup, but this would invite these pests. We kept alternating mice poisons which would kill the majority of the mice, but then a few immune ones would make immune babies. I think we ran out of new poisons to try and that marshall mice are the most immune in the world. Same with flies, we had industrial bug zappers, but when there is that much food around it was impossible to totally eliminate them. Occasionally a ferret or dog would get loose, but this was fairly rare, and it wasn't like there were multiple animals loose all the time. Usually someone didn't shut a cage correctly after animal socialization. The vets had zero patience for mistreatment of animals. Any rough handling reported would be addressed quickly (unless you were related to certain higher ups, at which point you'd just keep getting different managerial jobs) Marshalls was on good relations with the local municipals. They donated lots of money to build parks and hospital wings. The police did keep an eye around the area. I will say, the State Police that arrested the Shark guys flying the drone 100% broke the law and violated the 4th amendment rights of the drone operators. There are many good cops in the area, but those smug buttheads should have been sent back to the academy and NY should have paid a hefty fine. Marshalls and animal testing in general is a complex issue. If you want it to go away, you have 2 options. Refuse medical treatment that was tested on animals, like children cancer treatments, or come up with a way to prove treatments are safe in a way that doesn't use animals.

Also, I don't think they do cats anymore because they were too susceptible to disease. When we used to do them, if one got sick, you could lose a whole barn. Maybe that has changed now. Dunno

If your ferret dies, get another one and that's it. I don't understand how people can have that strange and wild thing as a pet, having cats and dogs on the street waiting to be adopted.

Hello! I had a question regarding a ferret’s diet. Is it okay to feed a ferret dry food that are good quality and nutritious or good quality cat or kitten food? And if the anwser is yes to my question which brand do you recommend that is available everywhere if not that will be fine. Thank you 🤍
@Pazuandfriends
@Pazuandfriends 20 күн бұрын
The question of if it is okay, of course it is okay. Is it the best diet for them? No, but there are certain things you can do to make it better. The best dry foods would be Ziwipeak or Feline Naturals. You can add water to these meals to rehydrate them. (Ziwipeak technically doesn't need rehydrating, but it is a dehydrated food)

Bryn! I am in PA and have a 10 month old ferret that I have to rehome because of living situations, I don’t want to rehome him, but if he comes with me, he won’t get free roam anymore and that’s just not fair to him. I want him to go to the best home possible, and was wondering if you’d be willing to take him if you were in the tri state area? I have TONS of fleece, and supplies if you need some extra also, and you could just take him. If you could, I would be so so grateful!🥹❤️

I love the idea of cozy home vlogs! I love vintage furniture and decor and your apartment looks so homey. Also how do you keep the ferrets from digging out of their outdoor playpen? When I had something similar for mine they almost dug out!
@Pazuandfriends

Thank you!! Honestly, they aren’t in the pen long enough to start digging. Maybe a half hour tops, and it’s moveable so we can always move the pen if they start to dig.

Hello, I am afraid ferret socialization with humans is not done as training, it is achieved during the imprint. If ferrets are handled and raised by humans after 2nd or 3rd week of life, they wont see humans as threats. If you try to train a ferret that was not imprint with humans you're losing your time, and first of all you have no clue of what you're talking about. You may get the ferret used to handling, but he will bite if he feels threatened again. Some Marshall ferrets are not raised to be pets, and sill get into the pet trade. These poor little ferrets dont just bite, they can be mean and really harm you, piercing your skin every time they have the chance to reach your hand. Always use protection gloves when handling a non friendly ferret. And just leave them alone, there are ways you can stimulate a mean ferret, and you dont have to touch it, or pet it. Just let him be on his own, not all ferrets need human interaction!

Just a question, are ferrets *with a little/some adult help/supervision* capable to take care of around the age of 10-15? Aslong as the kid has done a LOT of research. Like enough to make a props and cons google document that has 13 pros and 14 cons etc.

Hey, I have a question about ferrets for a friend! She's wondering if it's okay to just get one ferret since she can't afford to get two. She already has two cats and one dog at home, and she's wondering if they can provide companionship for the ferret, who the ferret could play with if there are no other ferrets around (under supervision).
@Pazuandfriends
@Pazuandfriends Ай бұрын
Sadly cats and dogs do not make suitable companions for a solo ferret. Ferrets will almost always prefer the company of other ferrets! I highly recommend always adopting at least two ferrets at a time.

@@Pazuandfriends I see, thank you for the response. She already got the ferret tho! It's a black eyed white ferret😊 she has a very big cage, and the cats already got used to her. The dog is still getting used, but they can definitely co-exist with each other. Ferret is with other animals only under supervision so far it's going pretty awesome The ferret gets 6+ hours a day of free roam and play time😽

Ceramic bowls are actually not good because they contain micro pockets and bacteria start to grow on those micro pockets so even if you wash your bowl and you change the water there’s still drinking that bacteria that can cause issues in their digestive system instead, you want to use stainless steel bowls

I am REALLY hoping you see this, seeing as how this video is so old. I've had my ferret for 6 years and she was diagnosed with insulinoma a year ago. I knew nothing about the ferovite up until now 😭 I'm so very conflicted, because her vet has me giving her liquid steroids twice daily for her insulinoma and the only way she will take it is if I mix it with the ferovite. She LOVES the ferovite 😢 also, I am guilty of giving her a high protein ferret kibble also, but she was eating our dogs expensive dog food for awhile after I got her so I was finally relieved when I found a kibble she would eat.
