I’ve found grinds the easiest to use when switching a ferret to raw. They take to it very quickly. I still use grinds in the morning and then whole prey in the evening once they are back in their cage to minimize the mess. It only takes finding a half eaten mouse on your pillow once to make you move around your feeding schedule 😂

I actually took your raw diet program but I couldn't continue frankenprey because of the limited variety I had in my area. I have fed mypetcarnivore for a year now! And my babies love it! I only have three so I buy 2 months worth of supply at a time and freeze it and take it out as I go. I live on the west coast so I pay $80 for shipping, so I try to buy it as rarely as possible! My boy also has a weird hooved animal allergy with the exception of pork, he throws up to beef and mutton. But he scarves down pork!

Please do a video on how you prep everything for the week with commercial grinds I am wanting to do this for mine and looking on here for tips, bit saw before you were doing the franken raw diet one. Wondering if I still should add other stuff to it with the commercial grinds as well lime other raw foods ect

I alternate between grinds and whole prey. My lot flat out hate hooved animals. So find it much easier this way. This month they have chicken, duck and goose grinds along with whole quails, mice, chicks, poussin and wild caught squirrels. But they will also eat turkey and pheasant grinds, rabbit either whole or grinds and whole pigeons, partridge or mallard depends what the shop has in stock.

I think grinds are really great! Feeding grinds helps me to save a lot of time on food preparation, my ferrets are getting all the nutrition they need, and they just love it! What I usually do is mix different types of grinds together. I normally order approx. 10-11kg of 80-10-10 grinds such as: chicken, duck, goose, pigeon (with feathers), pheasant, quail, beef, ox, veal, lamb, pork, goat, rabbit (with fur), deer, hare, kangaroo, salmon, trout, green tripe and mix of different types of offal plus some additional bone meal (food grade only). Then I mix everything together (that's the 'dirty' part), divide into 250g portions, vacuum pack and freeze. On top of that I treat my ferrets with eggs (usually once or twice a week) and some whole prey.

Are you still feeding them the grind now airs a year later? What grinds do you feed? Should it still be at least 4 different “protein” sources? When you say a raw meaty bone do you mean just an uncut bone in piece such as a raw chicken wing Or cut it up? I worry they will choke and no one really says they just say a meaty bone and show cutting meat up.

See I can't really trust to use most of the online places coz I live in WA and unless I spend like $100 or more in 1-2 day shipping, the time frame for the meat to arrive is in the risky zone of the meat have thawed and gone bad. And that's just not worth all the money spent. There's a place that travels from Oregon, to some main drop off points between them and WA, but they also only do the trip a couple times a month and you have to physically be there at a certain time to get it. Which isn't good when you have to work the few times they do come. So ordering raw meat is just not in the cards for me lol. Luckily I've noticed haggens is the one well known grocery store that does carry slightly more exotic meats. More so grinds. So I'll be keeping that in mind once I get the ferrets eating the basics. Then I can at least throw in some rabbit grinds here and there

Question! So I might be getting fingerless gloves for my birthday and I'd like to know if it would be unsanitary to touch my ferrets with them on without washing them frequently or just touch them with them on in general

Hey, i had a question for you. You said that your ferret momo has allergies to hooved animals and I was curious as to how you found that out. My ferret has been on immunotherapy for environmental allergies such as dust, human dander, and other things but sometimes he gets bad tummy upsets. im worried he may be allergic to something in his food. The vet said there was no way to test for this though.
