PBA Nearly Perfect | Pete Weber Bowls 299 Game in 2001 PBA Great Lakes Classic

Pete Weber came close to perfection during the semifinal match of the 2001 PBA Great Lakes Classic, leaving a single pin on his final shot to finish with 299, more than enough to defeat Steve Wilson's 242.
In the championship match, Weber defeated Parker Bohn III, giving Weber his 26th career PBA Tour title, which tied him with his father, Dick Weber, and Don Johnson in total titles. Weber has since won 11 more for a total of 37 career PBA Tour titles.

Aaaargh, just grabbed it a bit, just to show that he's human! And at the end, while the audience is going wild, he's pointing to his opponent who still has to finish, so the audience can be quiet. Class act Pete, with all his flaws.

I would never accuse Weber of being a class act. Douche-bag comes to mind, however.

Not rue. He's only a class act when he's the winner. On many occasions I've seen Pete treat his opponents TERRIBLY when he's the loser of a match.

I don't even watch bowling, but even I know that Pete was the guy that screamed at an imaginary "crowd" member because they were "moving". 😂 Dude was screaming after every throw but never said who he was talking to. I'm convinced he was literally yelling at a ghost. 😂

He may not of got that perfect 300 but on that day he became one of the most famous bowlers that ever lived and that is what’s important! PDW fan for life!

I've been doing some research and I believe this is the first time Pete wore his sunglasses during an indoor televised match. The only previous time he had worn them was during an outdoor event at The Villages about 7 months prior to this match.

An interesting aspect to Weber's 299 game, is the fact he used 2 different balls. That would've been a 1st, and a pretty tough nut to repeat. Shooting a trey with different balls.

@mpup54 not in same set. My games in 799 were 247 286 266 4-9 on 11th shot 286 4-9 on 6th shot 266. Only 700 I ever had that I was upset with

Got a little soft with it which is weird cause normally in situations like that with all the adrenaline going if you miss it's usually cause you were too amped and threw it too hard.

He’s a great bowler but, I have NEVER LIKED HIM! Why? I much prefer an athlete who is Great and HUMBLE AT THE SAME TIME! I haven’t and never will like people with OVERINFLATED EGOS! An example of a Great and Humble athlete is HANK AARON! The man is still the Home Run King in my book because he never took Steroids like Barry Bonds! Aside from that, Hank ALWAYS displayed his Humble nature every time he talked to someone! He let others talk about his accomplishments! The same can be said of Barry Sanders! He Hated Awards and was almost embarrassed when he had to receive another accolade based on his performance! These are two Incredible Athletes that I truly admire and respect! Pete Weber, NOT SO MUCH! I just can’t Respect someone who acts like a JERK more often than not! Sorry if the TRUTH HURTS!
