Keeping diff fluids cool is very important for those who are at max load for very prolonged periods day in and day out. Not a need for most general driving and occasional towing. It’s definitely a cool piece though and proves the point that flat covers just create aerated oils which don’t live well. CFD software can show the issues but Gale made them visible for all to see.

I'm still waiting for them to make them for my 2005 F350 DRW and I'm due to service mine again. I,don't even remember which rear diff that's on my rig. And I, watched all of The Banks series on the development, and the explanation of how horrible all of those Flat back covers were, and I ,started noticing how many people fell for them and would just shake my head and visualize the Aeration as the light turned green and off they were blowing bubbles instead of throwing fluid to the front for proper lubrication to happen. Good Video once again ARod ! And they're so much better, Gale has got the Patent for it. The Man is Probably a Billionaire just for all of The different Patents He hold. Gale Banks is The GOAT ! And I, also run Amsoil in my vehicles, my daughter went by my buddies shop yesterday and got her oil changed in her Altima with Amsoil and she commented to me how much better the car sounded afterwards. I,Love That Snake Oil Lol ! It's been good to me for years now.

About time been waiting. 😂 Love my Banks diff cover and the Amsoil bags are great. Great idea saving them to reuse them wish I thought of that but I don’t need to do it as frequently as you. Should be noted to anyone thinking of doing this that if you drop the spare it is very easy to do this on the ground under the truck. Hardest part is prying the old cover off with the silicone holding it on, I used a thin wide putty knife to break the seal but it still took a minute. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend a novice to do it. Worst part is the stinky old oil. 😂

Just a few observations, Not only would I have been tempted to use the 12-point bolts to reinstall the rear cover. I would have been considering filling that void at the bottom of the Pig except that considering that covers probably not coming back off in a very long time, it's not a big issue. As for that information plate take a little bit of J-B Weld and epoxy it above the A and N on banks there on that rear differential cover and you'll have all of the original information from that truck on that rear diff cover. If you didn't want it that permanent, you could actually apply it with just some rtv, and I doubt that it's going anywhere. I put RTV on the cover of screws on a pitot tube of Mach 2 plus aircraft, and it doesn't leave the aircraft unless and until I have to replace a pitot tube on that aircraft. As for the Loctite being on the original bolts, it's blue Loctite that Milwaukee impact that you use could have broken those loose. Where did you get the idea that you had to refund it to get blue Loctite to break free. I haven't had that much trouble with red Loctite most of the time. Let somebody screwed up and put green bearing Loctite on it you're not going to have a problem

I've "encouraged" Banks (you may read that as beg) to make one for the F350 Dually. Yeah, I know it already has a nice looking aluminum cover, but the features built into the Banks should provide an added benefit. They say maybe 2023, after more Derringer development.
@louie35522 жыл бұрын
I hear you on the "beg". Sent multiple Emails to Banks also. A previous ARod KZfaq had Banks rep join. I brought up when we might see a Bank's Ram Air Diff cover for the Dana M300s (F350 duallys). The reply from Bank's was that Bank's has decided not to produce a cover for the Dana M300 as 1). they say there is not enough M300s out in the market to make it worth their $ while, ... combined with ... 2) the cost of development (die/casting) has gone up substantially in the past year. Have been in touch with Ford and Dana engineering and they are very aware they have a temp issue with the M300s, hence the 2020 and newer M300s have a Ford Factory aluminum/finned cover. Unfortunately, the public nor Dealerships can buy just the Ford Aluminum M300 cover from Ford... I have tried ....going through 3 dealerships and Ford Corporate Parts..... I Have the Part number but when you order one, it comes in "Steel". So far you it appears you have to buy a whole rear axle assembly to get the Ford aluminum cover. Even used a VIN from a 2020 dually to try and order a Ford Aluminum cover. As seen on Banks testing result KZfaqs, there is a a Pinion oiling and Rear fluid agitation issue with most aftermarket "Flat Back" Rear Diff covers. I have a '17 F350 dually (w/M300) that I tow heavy (18.8K 5th). Decided to change the rear gear fluid every 25k miles to reduce my risk (AMSOIL). With the above said, my plan was to search the internet to find a used Ford aluminum cover. .... and after a 5 month search ... scored one on eBay 2 days ago from Georgia. In-route as I am typing this. Down side, I just changed my Rear Diff fluid 1K miles ago.

The axle tag could easily hang by one bolt , the one you are beginning to wind in at 15:10 into the video or the one on top of it , the left side corresponding bolts might be even better prospects, a matter of choice. Countless cars and trucks I owned over my 55 years of driving had tags held in by one bolt, center chuck Ford 9" type or GM 12 bolt stamped rear covers and everything else in between . Banks engineering nailed it , his own promotional video proves the scientific merits of the design, the best one on the market not some cast aluminum frying pan with fins that causes more problems than it solves.
