I always silicone the holes for the shower. Those shrouds aren't water tight so water hitting off your body creep behind the shroud and then go down the back of the wall. Usually a call back in months later but seen it happen a few times. The old boy at work always told me to do that as an apprentice but to only cover hole cut out the tole not splash it everywhere so you can't take the shrouds off like the mess they done in the video. Always best to make sure a shower area is 110% water tight. Lovely video Pete! Amazing guy! Hope your old man gets well soon buddy.

Brings backs lot of memories , those jobs you have done, I was a maintenance plumber for a brewery, and I did loads of unpleasant jobs like that, one in particular was a blocked drain and transpired that it was a baby at the bottom of the manhole. Apparently a misscarage. I was only a young lad at the time. Pleased your dad's ok pete. Thanks

Hi with those Drayton 3 ports you need to pop the cir clip off the spindle, tap the spindle down inside the valve leaving enough exposed to get hold of with pliers! then squirt oil into the hole, pull spindle back out and re fit cir clip. Frees them off properly rather than just giving it a wiggle.

I remember my dads first stroke. It’s scary stuff, glad to hear he’s okay. I had a shower like that in a solid wall clad in wooden wet wall panels. I had to carefully widen the openings so they could still be covered by the shrouds and sweat the elbows off. I then dug out some long tailed street elbows and soldered them in, I was worried it wouldn’t work but it did so I was pretty chuffed with that job.
@garydouthwaiteplumbingheat78142 жыл бұрын
I've seen a few of them drainage issues. A mop is probably a better choice than a plunger at times but that will probably off experience be caused by baby wipes blocking somewhere from them or further down the main drain. Like you said pete the drainage company should be shifting that before any plumber goes in to work on the toilet 👍
@MrBerps2 жыл бұрын
As you’ve pointed out that will be without a shadow of a doubt that blockage will be down to wipes. Had similar carnage in my rental property

Nice one Peter.....hope your dads feeling better scary stuff when its your own family.....i got out of doing letting agency work years ago because unless its high end stuff they don't give a toss about the tenants until they stop paying the rent then they just evict them and get some other poor sod to replace them...... Cheers
@SteveN-pw4dj Жыл бұрын
With all them baby wipes down the toilet you can see why it's blocked. My sister had an issue in her house because the tenants next door where chucking baby/wet wipes down the toilet.... And looking at the state of the house you can see the tenants are not clean.
@davidb24642 жыл бұрын
Hi Pete, just heard you saying about your dad, please please keep an eye on him, from my first aid teaching days , quite often a TIA is a forerunner to a full stroke, so look for medication etc to offset the the possibilities of a full stroke 👍

Those Drayton valves. If you look at the spindle there’s a u clip it’s tiny. If you hook that off you can push the spindle fully in and out and get some silicone on it there’s a matrix of washers so no water will come out. Best way to clean them up and get them fully free
@paulkent73952 жыл бұрын

If the drainage is blocked, the landlord or estate agents should have the drain unblock first. I've had the same problem with my toilet. If you cannot unblock the toilet check the drain. 😲

3 port valve Drayton body, remove the circlip on the shaft. Smear small amount of silicone grease around the shaft. Get a pair of pliers and gently push the shaft in gentle about 10mm repeat in and out about four times. Put the circlip back on your done. Drayton valves are renowned for the O’s ring drying out.
