I can’t tell if you’re thinking they kept the parts they put in there, well… in there. It’s a Known Working Spare, so if it wasn’t the RAM that you KNOW is working, you take it out and out the customers RAM back. Repeat Cycle until fault was found, in this case, the motherboard.

@@camialeh I would agree but I can't think of a bad storage setting causing this kind of havoc. RAM defects would over time corrupt the OS but that's drive-specific. My only guess is either the bios is bad or a component on the board is fucked. If it's the latter RMA is the only option.

This is a very old problem. I saw this 25+ years ago. Simple test though - disconnect everything, including the HDD/SSD. Leave only one memory stick in place. Let the machine cool down, and then boot into the BIOS and wait. Repeat, quickly. If it is thermal the second shutdown (reboot) will be much quicker as there hasn't been time for the heat to dissipate. As for the motherboard fault - again I'd want it to be stable in the BIOS before flashing it from a USB. It does seem his videos are just throwing parts at the problem.

Great idea! So, what if it didn't shut down on bios? Does that means the issue is in the windows?
@mbraden66
@mbraden66 6 ай бұрын
@@Domtsa_Edits.23 could be memory or a corrupted file on the disk. Since the computer might have 16gb or 32gb of memory (or even more) unless you test the memory in BIOS you aren't really checking all the memory sectors so on boot up, there could be a bad spot which is causing the crash. It would be consistent, crashing in the same spot every time, not randomly though. PCs used to do memory test during start up, but boot up became too slow when you started scanning above 4gb. I believe most bios have a memory scan option. I could be wrong though. When nothing was integrated in the motherboard you'd just have CPU & memory on the MB then attempt boot to see if it fails. If it made it to "no boot device" you knew the basic 3 parts were good. These days with integrated network, video, wifi, bluetooth, etc it could be a lot of things. I still try to go back to the simplest mode possible to see if you still have the problem.

The motherboard is a nightmare to troubleshoot. Happened to me. But, since I do not own a tech business, I bought another Ram stick, another psu, another NVME. It might be a bios problem, you can flash it and check. But also it can be processor VRM issue (power issue (not PSU)).

I just had a software issue with icue from Corsair it’s temp setting for emergency shut off was at 158 degrees which made it shut down during any game so make sure to check your manufacturer safe temps

One thing I never do is connect a machine to a network without first making 100 percent sure it’s not infected. Do all the troubleshooting offline and fix what is needed before ever connecting it to your network. After working IT for a few years I quickly learned why that is so important

One thing I've learned is to always put things on different drives. So if you're using an SSD for your operating system and your video games you can just wipe the drive, reinstall those games in the operating system because everything else is on separate drives that can function even if the main drive messes up

I feel like MSI has a bit of a quality control issue on some of the pro series boards. I've noticed there have been a good bit of people experiencing issues with them, also a lot of them being sold used. I got a brand new sealed board MSI B550M PRO and it was DOA. I used the oven baking repair and now the motherboard works properly. I do board level device repair and it seems like their solder joints aren't quite as accurate as they should be. Might be a flaw in their machining.

Oh my gawd. I HATE it when it’s the mobo.

Ever try a bios update? That’s probably why the mobo swap worked. It looked like a B550 which is known to have that problem out the box.

I think you should've cleared the BIOS before changing a bunch of parts that cost more than $100 replace. Or, you know, hire a tech who knows how to troubleshoot

LTT did a video on this. It's literally just a bios _setting_ that's on by default. Just turn it off and you'll be fine. I have a feeling he was just upgrading his PC and wanted to make it seem like he was smart so he could make a video on it

Bios and checking temps should have been the first checks.

Have a look at memory speed, sometimes the bios detects a speed that is actually a bit too high.

Seems like it might have been a Solder issue. Some times the connections on a Mother Board are to close to one another while mechined and the Soldier connects causing a unintentional short. seeing as there are hundreds of thousands of connects its nearly impossible to find.

Always check the motherboard first before checking rugged parts like ram and CPU, you can burry them in the ground for months and they might still work perfectly.

I would leave it on bios screen for several hours to see if remains stable, that would indicate you have enough time to try a bios update via USB

Maybe the replacement CPU wasnt supported by the BIOS version, cause you did actually encounter a new problem after CPU replacement. So maybe the original CPU actually was the problem.

my computer was doing the same thing when i first mounted it and i realized it was also the motherboard i saw on some forums that this was common with the model i was using and they Literally told me to use a hair dryer to dry the board because it was a motherboard mechanism that made it turn off because the board had moisture.

this board in reviews and forums has been known to cause problems, even with a bios update or restarting the bios it won't fix it. Don't waste time on this specific Msi b550 board, if it works for you then great, but I'll say save on a great b450 board or spend a little more on a better b550 one. It's the MSI b550 Pro -VDH
