I feel like we can make legit conversations using Touhou's theme song titles. Youmu: Hiroari shoots a strange bird ~ Till when? Minoriko: Because Princess Inada is scolding me. ... Nope.

Zunpets are iconic, but there is another awesome instrument in Touhou: these sexy drums (especially Lunar clock)

This is a really good theme, I can't imagine fighting her, her attacks go EVERYWHERE.

I love how well does this music match the actual battle. Most of the times the music restarts right before Youmu starts her Human Realm spellcard, making it seem like the calm before the storm.

When I first heard this theme on KZfaq before playing the actual game, I thought this was a pretty meh or bad theme even. Then I fought Youmu in the actual game and it completely changed my perspective on how good music can be when accompanied with something. 1:50 is so well timed to roughly when you encounter the spell card where shots come up from the bottom of the screen. The music combined right with when that attack starts is so immersing to the point it just FEELS like you really are in the game fighting Youmu and dodging for your life against the projectiles. Ever since then this has been one of my personal favorites.

Youmu: sometimes bringing a sword to a gun fight is a really good idea.

A legit example that ZUN could do his own guitar arrangements in the early Windows era, Lunar Clock was just a massive flood of midi guitars and I think he didn't use amp simulator effects on that theme... When he used the SC-88Pro for Kyoh Gyoku and Torte le Magic he also composed some really great guitar parts.

Youmu's profile claims she's still in training, that her "swordfighting ability is still in progress". So imagine how tough she'll be when she completes her training if she's this tough now.

It’s a great theme, ngl! I like 0:00 - 0:06 WOW, DRUMS!!!! (and a quiet guitar too, lol) 0:07 - 0:31 It’s a maniac-sounding intro. Is that a super-quiet guitar in the background at 0:23? Because this crazy, anxiety melody actually kinda goes hard for some reason (xD) 0:31 (and onward) Because that’s the main melody and it sounds catchy 1:21 Because it’s the peak. It’s the same thing for the rest of the music but it’s great For some reason it reminds me of the stage 5 theme from the previous game, haha. I do wish there was another section to this though, instead of repeating the melody and then ending it. :( (I still really like it, though!) I can’t wait for the later themes in this game whether they’re good or bad. I heard that Necrofantasia was insane, so I’m excited

EXACTLY HALF of me love this song. The other half one as well, but it's halved...

This is the kind of song that if it were in a Final Fantasy they'd save it for the final boss... it has a really big epic opera rock sound to it and every time the organ theme changes like @ 2:42 it feels like it's getting even bigger yet! When fighting her it's like "uh oh, now what am I in for?!" :)

I think it is probably the most intense boss battle imo

@Atma01 she is a playable character in Touhou 8 Imperishable Night along with Yuyuko Saigyouji in the netherworld dwelers team. (though im not sure if that's the right name of the team... she is still not the main character but she is a heroine on that game and i guess that makes up for it)

@Texthewolf I agree with that though. I played IN recently, Youmu's attacks are very nice and I love her bomb! Then there's Yuyuko with a nice wideshot~ Youmu and Yuyuko team-up made the game very easy on normal mode~

i love youmu as a character, but on the fighting games i don't get along with her at all; i find her really easy to beat and really hard to play as, I do love playing against her in PCB though, her danmaku i pretty solid
