Wow. Your channel just popped up randomly on my recommended list and what a surprise. I have an old Cassiopeia A-11A, upgraded to 6mb ram, has an SH3 CPU, grey scale display and PCMCIA slot with WinCE 2.0. Wondering if one of those custom PCMCIA slot cards would work on my unit. Quite amazing examples you got there, Ill have to order a few of the cards when time comes. If only it also came in Atari Portfolio format to complete wireless connectivity for portable vintage devices.

I like, how with old computers, you just switch them off. No shutdown procedure, just a cold switch.

What type and revision of PCMCIA does this require? I have a Poqet PC with a rev 1.0 slot I'd like to use this with, but I'm not sure if 1.0 slots support network cards.

I do have a variation of this that would fit into a Type I slot, and I have talked to a few people about it. Basically for devices that did not support i/o mode if it is not possible to enable, it is still possible to communicate through emulated memory, i.e. we could make a memory mapped packet driver so mtcp etc could be used on these devices as well. I do not currently have a Poqet to test.

You are using a Jornada 720 not a 680, the 720 has a StrongArm CPU the 680 has an SH3, the software for them are very different, will it work on all Jornadas even the 300 series ? Super Cool project 🙂

Yes it should since the card he made is emulating a older popular network card so pretty much no drivers needed and just plug and play for most computers. Pretty much a wifi bridge to a emulated pcmcia network card.

Yeah I just noticed that too! Not sure why I had 680 in my mind. I expect it to work with others as well though, will need to find to test.

didnt know pcmcia was in that many old devices, esp. an amiga.

It was introduced with the Amiga 600 and 1200. First versions of Amiga600 (aka Amiga300) were delivered with a Kickstart ROM not supporting it (so no boot possible, requiring to load drivers into RAM).
