Example of accessing a modern WPA2 WiFi network from Windows98. This will work on any device that supports an NE2000 network card.

I'd love to have one. Unfortunately I'm stuck using old hardware and WPA but atleast I have that stuff separated from my actual wireless. Thats pretty awesome though. BTW that is a nice looking thinkpad.

for sure. this is a much simplier design to what I was working on before and can be serial modem or ethernet card. And it uses less power so even better fit for the HP200LX. Works with the existing packet drivers and everything from the 90's for the EN2216 type cards

Wow, this is really f*cking cool! I just subscribed to your channel. I'm into retro tech as well, if you care to ever check my videos. Can't say I've ever outright designed my own hardware adapters as such, but I've got a knack for miniaturizing existing hardware when possible. I hope to see more awesome stuff!

This is kind of a crazy idea but do you think it would be possible to make a PC Card that "takes over" the machine it's plugged into and uses its keyboard and screen? It would be really cool if you could plug a card into something like a 701C and get a machine with the power of a modern Raspberry Pi. I don't really know too much about this super low-level stuff but AFAIK PC Cards can read and write memory directly, so maybe it's possible? The system could be booted into some minimal OS that just hands over control.

Hi Kevin, is it possible to emulate that 16-bit Buffalo WiFi card you have on your desk in the top right corner of the video? I am using the same card with my Apple Newton, and that wopuld be great to have your emulator to test it with Newton. Is there any chance to buy your emulator?

What does the EOL of AMD/Xilinx 5v tolerant CPLDs mean for this project? If you use one I suggest ordering them before the price goes through the roof.

what about msdos packet driver? suppose that also means you need a dos driver for pcmcia controller as well.

In MSDOS I just use a point enabler, no memory hogging card services but you could use card services if you wanted, to the host this is just an NE2000. Dos is actually my target platform, that is where I spend 99% of my retro time.

Does the DOS compatibility allow it to also work with WFW3.11?

Yeah, network function will work on any operating system that supported supported an NE2000 network card, which absolutely includes WFW 3.11

is this a 16 bit card? would it work for a Commodore Amiga?

yes it is a 16bit card should work on anything that supports a 16bit ne2000 compatible card

I do not have an HP95LX to test on, but it does work on the HP200LX. I am currently working on disk emulation as well specifically for the HP LX so that we can also use it for storage (on an SD Card) at the same time as network/modem. Using the approaches from the accurite doubleslot.
