A: If all of the steps here didn't identify the issue and the computer didn't display to an external monitor then we are left with your motherboard being the problem. It should be replaced. Q: My computer displays to an external monitor but wont display on its own.
A: If your computer displays to an external monitor but not to its own LCD, then your issue is most likely with your LCD or LCD Cable. Try 'Reseating' the cable first by unplugging it from both ends. Then, plug it back in. If that does not help, replace the LCD and Cable one at a time. Let me know if you would like help locating the correct parts :)

Just an FYI: For me and the Samsung Notebook 7, Windows updates replaced the display driver which was causing the black screen. Every time after an update the computer came on but nothing appeared on the screen. Plugged it up via HDMI to the tv and it showed everything working perfectly fine. I had to hunt down an older driver and install it. Before replacing the hardware, make sure the dreaded Windows updates aren't ruining your older laptops.

Ok so my monitors max output is like 1280x1080. Its been fine for months. I reset my pc twice in a row. And for like a day now my screen is grey. Tho i have seen the screen pre reboot

My laptop battery is not in good condition. is this can be a problem? My screen is turns black and after sometime it is back. Can u please suggest something.

Hii My dell laptop running into similar problem.When I adjust screen it goes black,when restart it works fine.but very small movement makes it go black.Laptop stays on.Any idea what problem could be there.

My dell xps 13 will display if i disable the intel iris 540 graphics if i enable them i get a black screen i have tried older drivers but no luck any help would be great

Hi there thank you for your helpful videos, how about blinking screen goes to blank screen for Dell Laptop Latitude 5480? I do a bunch of stuff and then ending up downgrading my windows from win 10 to win 7 now my laptop are usable but I didn't maximize the spec of the laptop to it's maximum potential due to downgraded graphics driver windows software etc. Thank you in advance for your response.

Man you're a legend; I was going to buy a new Laptop cos I gave up trying to fix mine, or even send it to a repair shop. That is until I came across this video and did the bad RAM test. It worked like magic. One of my RAMs was causing my laptop not to turn on for some reason. You saved me money and stress man, thanks a lot - wish you the best

Bro THANK YOU MAN. I was cleaning my. Keyboard and had to disconnect a few cables I realized that my screen wasn't popping up. Turns out I hadn't fully reconnected my lcd cable. Ur a hero man Thankz.

Very coherently explained - you'd make a good teacher! My Dell goes dark across one side of the screen. Plugged it into an external monitor and I get a bright, clear output, so I guess it's either the LCD cable or the LCD screen. Fingers crossed - will get back and let you know the results.

Thank you! we had a laptop that we dropped and they were charging £400 to fix it, i replaces the CR202 battery for a pound and the hardrive and ram from another broken sytstem and it works like a dream

Hi there. I just wanted to say you saved me a lot. My fix was the cheap RAM chip. I have two slots/ports for RAM but only one RAM chip. I popped it out and placed in the other slot.. Bingo. Thank again.
