Want to know my thoughts on Black Ops? Ha Ha! Activition, online only , over 300 GBs, give me a break. All that data is just all the skins and dances and patches and hairbands and whatever stupid crap they plan to sell to you through micro-transactions. No freaking way. Who is paying for this crap these days?

I paid for Game Pass (cost me ~$5/month for Ultimate after buying up three years worth of Xbox Live Gold cards and doing the conversion) otherwise I wouldn't buy it. I've only purchased MW2 and Cold War after steep discounts and hardly play them, so this is definitely the only reason I "might" try it out.

@@DoinThatRag That may be so but I am just a consumer. I don't run Microsoft and as such have no skin in the game with their business decisions. They seem to be still going full speed with it. I can't change that one way or the other 🤷 but what I do on the other hand is double dip on games I care about on Steam. I find myseld hardly using Game Pass these days other than to "try" games and then buy them on Steam if I like them.

Apple needs to read the terms of the DMA again; Apple *can't* reject UTM from distribution in third party marketplaces, in just the same way it can't prevent Epic from building an App Store. App Review is going to land them yet another clash with the EU, and potential fine-worthy rule violation.

Mr.S: The limitation to emulation on iOS is Apple itself. Android Community: Always has been. I get a funny feeling that Megaman GB project is going to catch a hard DMCA from Capcom. I've had SPGP on my wishlist for a couple of months now it's looking pretty tasty.

I've been using a sort of Recall-like thing on my Linux boxes for nearly a decade, and it's pretty handy. Would have to be crazy to enable it by default on a major operating system though.

For sure. I'm all for having the option but not for it being installed & enabled by default. The Microsoft version also has some huge privacy, data, and security risk implications. Mental Outlaw did a video on it recently in case you or anyone wants to check it out.

Because iOS is its own thing and doesn't allow VMs on the App Store. UTM allows for even modern computer emulation. Retro computers seem to be allowed, like DOS, c64, zx spectrum, etc. Macs are computers running macOS and have never had this limitation. I don't agree with this and think apple should open up iOS devices, but that's the reasoning.

My problem with most emulators is more and more of them require high end devices to run at all... The older emulators gb gbc and gba snes sega megadrive genesis etc are fine but even ps1 and ps2 are demanding on some devices...most emulation playing people dont do have the newest device or an emulation specific device to play their games on... I really hope optimization will come sooner or later to make more console emulation aviable for more people on older devices...

ARM has a problem with never allowing Linux based systems from accessing the full range of hardware acceleration options, so this would have to change before a full challenge to X86 could be made. Having a fully supported Windows environment may sway those that just want a switch on and go system, as long as the price is competitive. But I think that people are likely to switch to ne machines over longer periods than before because the power available from even base machines is plenty enough for daily uses, so marketing will have to up it's game going forward.

I want arm notebooks because I want more good productivity software for arm systems. If tuxedo on arm leads to productivity apps that can be easily ported to android and used on Dex or other desktop android modes I'd call it a win.

The weird thing about call of duty 6 and the file size they also say that a lot of the textures are going to be streamed from the cloud so where does the 300 GB go? I don't know if that's just online play only that some of the textures and such are going to be streamed from the cloud. To me that is very worrying I don't play any of these games that were released or announced yesterday but I believe it was an amazing show for people who do. Just not a fan of something that's 300 GB and textures and such are going to be steamed from the cloud at the same time. I understand it's going to be a three-parter you got The campaign you got the live multiplayer then you got the zombie. I think they campaign might be 8 to 10 hours this time since this is the first time they actually featured a campaign on a showcase in quite a while. Also I wonder is the storyline going to be that we were led into fake wars under lies? Is this going to get some attention from Congress and maybe far left wingers I'm talking far out there that believe Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction that lie and everything else that went along with it.

Q: I'm using AetherX2 on Android and just downloaded Neither2 as I thought it was just a patch. When trying to install it says it conflicts with another app and want install. Should I just get rid of AetherX2 and go with NeitherXS2? Thanks for any help.

I think both apps share the same AppID, so you'll have to overwrite one over the other. If your phone has MIUI, after installing NetherSX2, one of your system apps may offer to overwrite the app with their "reliable version", which basically is the AetherSX2 from Play Store. Make sure you select the option to deny this (they use some confusing button colors that may confuse you).

Microsoft releasing a handheld Xbox Series console would be an admission that they fucked up by wasting $70 billion on Activision-Blizzard. They could have used a tiny fraction of that to develop the handheld, or better yet, outright buy a controlling stake in Sony.😂

All comes down to cost as right now you can spend less then a Arm PC and still game pretty well due to the use market, I think thats the use market is going take off more due to windows 11 so more cheap 86x pc to stick around longer.

The translation from x86 to ARM imposes a significant performance overhead, so I guess most high end titles will be off the table unless the player settles on playing 30fps in some of them. But if their translation layer proves to be efficient enough to enable some 7th/8th generation games to run with good performance, it could be a competitor to the Ryzen-based portable handhelds, and if it established itself as a good-enough solution to playing those games, it could spread to the laptop market as people would start to settle for having an ARM laptop due to its power/heat benefits.

If 3DS is retro then PS2 is definitely retro. Not sure if any PS2 emulators are on the app store yet but without JIT I can't imagine it would be very playable for a lot of games unfortunately. EDIT: Apparently Retroarch should have a PS2 core on the App Store.

I am not an expert on emulators but all the ones I have used have always worked fine with most of the games I played since many years ago so I am always a bit puzzled how come there are still so many fixes and improvements coming out all the time.

Many emulators are reverse engineered with a bit of tweaks here and there of making their source code from scratch. So if we were to actually take the exact source code from the actual console the companies who own the source code of the consoles themselves can sue them and possibly shut them down. But again, it's usually just to update lighting, gameplay, and performance for video games that still have issues even if the emulator has been out for 10+ years at this point.

Optimization. Emulation isnt perfect, just very very close. There are tiny sharp edges to file down and things that can always work a little better because it's not the exact hard ware. That's why FPGA devices are considered better because they perfectly imitate the original hardware.

I hear Sudachi is the best fork at the moment. But your phone specs may pose a barrier to making Switch emulation work, unless you settle for the simpler 2D indie titles.

RGG2 restored being completed is great. Though hot take but leaving honorifics as is isn't the smartest decision imo, especially when most of them can be translated, atlus's translations make me cringe for this reason every time i see san's and kun's mixed in with english dialogue.

The emulator is very mature at this point, and on every bugfix they have to test if it doesn't cause some type of regression on the already-playable titles. It's a delicate balance to keep when working on an emulator with such a high compatibility percentage.

If what Microsoft paid for Activision is any indication, I guess they foresee continued interest in the franchise for many years to come. And considering CoD is a boxed full-priced game that is managing to succeed in the current free2play-heavy market, perhaps their prediction is not so far off from reality.
