I actually a Gen 6 Monte Carlo last week, a Pearl White paint job, looks like a summer driver around here in New Brunswick, the winter Salt Capital of North America, both the people in the car were retirees, so it was probably bought new and is the driver's baby. Still a beautiful car.

Seriously. The Stratus? Cool? 😂😂😂 The Saturn Redline was insanely unreliable, ugly as sin, and 99 plastic.

I didn't own a coupe, but I did own a 2003 Buick Regal GS. 3800 Supercharged V6. It is still my favorite car I've ever owned. Plenty of looks whenever I hammered it down at a green light.

From my backyard of my house l could see the Wilmington plant. First thing l noticed was l could hear all bugs birds and distant darling dogs much clearer. After a few minutes l realized it was the GM plant. I wasn't loud but you could hear it 24/7, especially at night. Within a the first week they hacked holes in the wall and removed all the copper then stared started hauling out the body stamps and pretty much left it empty. It was sad. Now it's an Amazon warehouse.

The gen 6 monties are good for when you want something sporty, fuel efficient, and can outlive you The 3800 is an amazing v6 engine

Only if you live in a state that doesn't salt their roads in the winter. Here in MN the majority of Montes still on the road are riddled with rust holes. Not to mention the problem with the doors coming loose at the hinges and catching the front fender when opening the door, bending both the door and fender inwards. I always like the look of the sixth gen Monte Carlo since they looked like an updated G-Body. I wish Pontiac and Buick had used the platform for the Grand Prix and Regal coupes, with the latter bringing back the Grand National nameplate.

Had a 04 monte carlo ss/sc loved that car bought it out of the showroom with 4 miles put about 80k on it. Purchased a 0 mile 06 GTO 6 speed 6.0 after that I filed a lemon law case on it. I blew the front struts out twice within 6k and the motor blew at 2800miles. Spent more time driving a rental than i did that car

Pontiac G6 should get more than just the GXP. The 3.6 was a non direct injected, and the 1st gen worst 6-spd they made. They also made a GTP that had a 3.9l making 240hp, and for all of 18 months you could opt for a 6-spd manual transmission.

Most of the cars on this list were almost completely removed from the market by the cash for clunkers program. I got to see hundreds of perfectly useable cars destroyed. We are now seeing the full effect of this in the market and will for at least another decade.

You lost me on the first car. 1. The Stratus coupe was never cool. It was the lamer version of the Eclipse, and the Eclipse was already a hilariously bad performing car. I would know, I owned one for years. Lowered it, built it, even sprayed nitrous through it. Absolutely nothing to write home about. The LS1 Camaro I bought after was a legit performance car. 2. The 3rd gen Eclipse (along with it’s Stratus cousin) never had a turbocharged engine in America. This video has “American Sports Coupes” in the title, so we already know the market. 3. I don’t have a third point, it just feels right to have a third entry.

Mostly forgotten because they were CRAP!!! Gimme a break a Stratus?? Most econo boxes and CUV’s would lay that 💩box to shame!! A Saturn Ion redline 😆😂. The Monte Carlo if it was supercharged or V-8 could get out of its own way at least. Most cars were 💩back then…I guess at least the 2 doors looked good at least. A Cobalt 😆😂🤣. I guess we’re getting used to getting at least 400 hp in pickups. None of those (especially the Chrysler turds) were that great.

Im happy somebody said it These cars were pure trash, crappy build, shotty reliability & slow compared to Japanese & Euro cars in their class…even back then these cars were so bad they all ended up discontinued after a couple years (The Cobalt SS & GTo are the only exceptions, those were real performance cars)
