Peace & Tranquility Shattered, RS5T Rips Apart Camargo on DREI

A rare situation where I upload a video the same day I filmed it, but I just couldn't wait with this one. DREI 400 made a random run from Tuscola to Charleston, IL today. Leading a hopper and tank car was WAMX 3896. This unit with its ugly synchronous ditchlights is normally equipped with a K3LA and normally I wouldn't bother going after such a move, especially running long hood forward. However, the crew, equally bored with the silly run decided to have some fun, placing a 1970's Leslie RS5T up top. With 140psi of air straight from the main reservoir, the horn shredded the atmosphere with the sounds of 40 years ago. Being an ex-B&O line that went through the mergers forming CSX, R5STs are not new for the town, but they certainly bring back memories to those who grew up along the line.

It looks like an artist’s rendition of how ditch lights would work without doing any research into how ditch lights actually alternate.

That certainly livened up the morning and even the Birds couldn't out sing that horn. A neat flashback for the area and that's a nice elevator to try and model. Waiting to hear those first peeper frogs but we have a cooler week coming up

I agree, Camargo is one of the few really cool spots to see trains on this line which is otherwise mostly corn fields.

This line was former B&O and went through the Chessie era and CSX before WATCO picked it up, so this horn is right at home.

Yup. Very friendly railroad. The cool part is management doesn't seem to mind so long as they are safe, legal, and get the job done. I just hope somebody, railroader or otherwise, doesn't do something stupid and ruin it for the rest of us.

I do not get it eithier. Guess it is train thing. By reading the comments im guessing train horns in this area have been a lot more quite for a few years so they are shocked to hear one this loud. Sounds like every train horn I have ever heard.
