The Peach Fronted Conure, often confused as the Orange Fronted Conure, is a slightly lesser known Conure in the pet trade. While decently available, they don't turn heads at first, but after interacting with one, you immediately fall in love. They are huge birds trapped in a tiny body with a decent temper. As fun as they are, the question remains, is this the right parrot for you?

Super smart bird but got real moody. Gravitated towards one family member and would attack others. It ended up flying away.

I’ve had mine for 22 years. He is a doll but not cuddly, I cannot skritch his head. He is super smart, a pretty good talker. Very polite and not that messy for a parrot. His only loud moments are his alarm call when someone is in the yard or I walk past him with a broom, yardstick, etc. All conures are “nippy” AKA bitey….lol. My Peach Fronted only bites under extreme duress. He has really never bitten me. When I got him, I asked him “can I call you Swee’Pea” and he said “ok”❤❤ He loves to hang out on my shoulder, he laughs and flirts. He loves music and has his own playlist he dances to. I think they are awesome little birds.

I've had two Peach Front Conures, one made it to 30, the other is still with me. I don't find them to be nippy at all. They are super expressive as you mentioned and super intelligent, which is why I like them so much. If you spend the time, they do form very strong bonds.

Mine is 10 yrs old and an absolute sweet heart. I have got her to be able to step up on my fingers and she loves chin pets esp when I have some beard stubble, but its been impossible for me to get her to be okay with being pet by hand. She is super nippy when digits are all up in her space. Any tips on getting her to be a little more handleable?

I have had mine for 23 years. He is psychotic and sometimes I he needs he needs a Thorazine drip. Love him so much. I don’t consider him a bird. Although my vet thought I was a nut. I took Baxter in for his yearly checkup. She ask me “what is on your bird’s beak”? I sheepishly replied “birthday cake”

Sorry I don't know if you got my previous comment. Thanks for all your videos and help. We have had a difficult time over the past two weeks as we knew we wanted a bird but not what was right. We've had parrots before. Karma. Along with your help we're getting a baby Peach Fronted Conure. So exciting. Canadians retired in Mexico. Thanks again.

Adorable birdie. I wish we lived closer to each other. I rescued a Grey about a month ago. Sat in a cage 23 years. I’m NOT an experienced bird person. Would love to learn how to interact with her on a physical level. I’ve got the emotional part covered.

I've been in the avian field now for the better part of 30yrs. And have worked "hands on" with everything from Warblers to Birds of Prey and Budgies to Macaws. I am "owned" as a Parront of birds will tell you by a Senegal and Black Capped Conure. I love your little guy/gal very quiet for the most part compared with "Aratinga" parrots such as Sun, Nanday, Blue Crowned etc...are concerned. However, i often guide people into the quieter "Pyrrhura" family of Conures which is really subjective and based on the birds own personality. As their are loud Green Cheeked, Maroon Belly, Crimson Belly and Black Capped Conures out there. But their personalities make up for that ten fold. Very owner committed birds like a doggie with wings as i like too call them. Conures in general are GREAT birds but certainly NOT "beginner birds" by any means. They require A LOT of patience, time, training, and socialization to be the best bird companions they can. Great explanation of this species though...:)

When I got her she had as much orange as yours, but during the autumn she has lost most of it. Could it be the weather? I've also notice she isn't a half moon conure as she doesn't have yellow around her eyes 🤔

Hi, I am new to your channel. I just was wondering why do you rate talking ability? I get that the initial impression people think of a parrot is that they can talk. But, I really don't think that's a good reason to get one. They're really intelligent animals even surpasses primates in some cases.

Love this! I just got my peach fronted conure about 2-3 months ago and he always acts in slow motion. I have been patient on working to get his trust. The previous owner said he didn't get along with the other birds(she hand raises birds and sells them). He is about 9 months old now. He will come to me but not commit to coming out of his cage even with food to entice him... any suggestions would be appreciated.
@Fivesaflock
@Fivesaflock 2 жыл бұрын
Something you can try that can work pretty well is setting multiple mealtimes throughout the day, but instead of having the food in the cage, you bring the bird out to eat on a stand or playset. This can help give positive enforcement outside the cage. You would just have to make sure you have frequent mealtimes as parrots have fast metabolisms and may get hungry quick, especially as it is still young.

Can you tell me If there's any difference between this one and the half moon conure besides the appearence? Also, why do they look so alike If they are from different and distant places?
@Fivesaflock
@Fivesaflock 3 жыл бұрын
They're not too geographically distant. They were one species in the past before they got separated and split into two, kinda like how orange head and black head caiques are separated by a river. Aside from that, personality they are extremely similar. Looks also super similar. It's just size and different shade of color really at that point
@berfx3duck980
@berfx3duck980 3 жыл бұрын
@@Fivesaflock Yeah, now I realized it's not that distant, the separation explanation really makes sense. Thanks for the answer and the video, your channel is great :)

The Hardiest bird ever....I give it 5 out of 5. Your scores all air on cautionary sides.....mine is 18yrs old and I live in Wales...temperature changes are dramatic. This bird is like owning a dog, its attention demanding for sure, and it needs it. The Peach is the king of conures, very smart, very reading...its not the most playful bird, it's more reserved than most conures, but they do like attention. They display their mood very expressively through their body , wing raises, wing stretches , hisses and chest bump attacks.....but all, are mainly bravado. It's a forgiving bird.....but still susceptible to it's natural instincts on occasion. Under scored heavily i reckon

I had a couple of those. They are awesome in a small group. They can't handle cold less then 15 C. They do ok in aviary other wise. But the males talk better and more then females thing is kind false. Just in species that have more divergent behaviours between male and females. So most of The south american parrots are out of that list. Even the amazons.
