A host of wireless earbuds have gone to Kickstarter in the past year, over- promised, and under-delivered. Now another project - Pearbuds - is launching this week, and we ask again, Is this it? We invited Eric Tsoi, CEO of Pear Designs, to our Portland office to make his case - and he brought a pair of prototype Pearbuds with him. We’re happy to report that from what we’ve seen, Eric and his team seem to have cracked the code that’s stymieing competitors.
In this interview, you'll hear about the design challenges and how Eric's team overcame them.
The Pearbuds use the best rechargeable battery on the market, an excellent (and tiny) digital amplifier, a compact but highly functional Bluetooth chip, and the best speaker they could find. The team at Pear Designs then sorted out how to reduce the Pearbuds’ overall size, and the prototype for the final version is currently being fabricated.

What should I expect when March passes by and nothing in my ears? How much do you rate the risk for this delivery to be in time, scope, on budget, quality? I need an oracle here to answer such questions !!

Host mentions the fact that there were Kickstarter Campaigns for tech like this but nothing has come to fruition. Then seconds later the host introduces what? Yes another Kickstarter Campaign. I'll believe it when I can got to Best Buy to get a pair of these.

it would be awesome if the App could remind me the earbuds is out of BT range since it's so easy to forget/lost them. Compared with other BT earbuds like Jaybirds X2, they have a wire connected.

Google bluedio m2, i like them. Got mine $20 free shipping. Bluetooth 4.0 came fast. Battery lasts like 6 - 7 hours before charge.

Let me clarify, get the dash because the earbuds your are listening to has no research completed where as bragi has completed their product and it is phenomenal.

Sorry for the hateful comments I did my research after and bragi seems legit. But do you have to download a playlist or can you listen to your normal iPhone library and have it on shuffle like you would a pair of wired headphones? Is the downloading of music onto the headphones just so you can listen without your phone on your person? again sorry for the hateful comments

birdsnake420 you can stream any media via Bluetooth to The Dash, so if you want to watch Netflix or listen to your playlist you can. The storage space on The Dash is simply there so if you are doing an activity that doesn't permit you to carry your phone or laptop than you still get to use it.

That's far from bashing, there's not a single thing he said that was bashing another company. He brought up the issues holding the competitors back, said how the company in question had fixed them and said not a single thing bad about them. He's a smart dude, he knows what other peoples mistakes were and knows not to replicate them in his own product.

Pearbuds "truebuds" is one year overdue, it almost seems like they've snatched almost $1M from backers and no updates, I'm afraid this qualifies to be called a scam :)

4:30... He mentions that he doesn't want to be labeled a scam. 15:14... he goes on about how he's going to show videos of the manufacturing process and answer questions every day.... He also spends some time talking about competitors and how they've failed to deliver their products... Which is funny because the other companies HAVE delivered, and their products are more advanced! Typically when a company mentions the word "scam", it's usually because it is. Well many of us on Kickstarter and Indiegogo know that this IS a scam, and their lack of communication in addition to being 9 months late with delivery proves that we're correct. They are not that complicated to make... Lithium Ion Batteries + Phone mini usb charger port, + bluetooth compatibility = product finished.

The Dash has officially completed their product. I physically own one right now. Don't waste your time/money on this product, their development is still under developed....

+Liu Metivier; Currently I have the prototype, the problem I've been working out is simply the bluetooth connection. It works GREAT for streaming music and its internal playback, but occasionally cuts out. This is due to The Dash bluetooth signal not transmitting properly. This has been documented and will be corrected when the final product comes out. Additionally, when making phone calls, if both earbuds are not in then it will occasionally drop the bluetooth signal. This part is due to its stand-alone capabilities not being fully developed, but again have been taken into consideration and will be corrected prior to the final product release. Its internal playback system is outstanding as well, no issues with that system.

+Travis Wood so basically the main electronic component that connects the phone to the headphone doesn't work properly and you're saying that this product isn't worth buying even though it hasn't came out yet? And I'm guessing you're not getting your money back for those dash headphones huh lol

birdsnake420 no, I'm saying the prototype I currently have has been improved. I was giving an update on their current status in production and what was being done to improve them. The system is far beyond any system you will be able to purchase in the next 2 years, and every knock off you buy will be a cheap effort to exploit Bragi's accomplishments. But I tell you what, go buy any of the knock offs that come out for $150 and when it's fails to do what you want and you realize you wasted your money just remember you made a decision on a product from it's prototype (not even the final product). Also I didn't pay for them. I'm working with them to help perfect the system so a broken system isn't sent out. Hope you get the most from this review, and have a good day. P.S.: Classy name, I wasn't sure if I should take someone serious who has a pothead tag, aka 420, but I think I was able to look past that long enough to answer your question properly
