@@PB111627 Probably. New 2 bedroom houses in Kildare are going for 400k. And new 1 bedroom apartments in Sandyford are going for 350k. That's under FF and FG.

Politicians the world over are rich people who are able to go to their luxury homes that they own. Homes paid for by the people who are in desperation to put a roof over their heads and food on their tables. I am from Canada. I retire in 6 months. My rent on a 2 room flat in a basement will cost 90 per cent of my income. I have a small savings that will last a short while. I am lucky to be at the end of my life. My heart breaks for all the families and especially the children. I am so sorry things are so bad for you and your beautiful country.

Irish farmers pay zero inheritance tax on property. Home-owners pay over 30% inheritance tax. It's utterly insane.

I know a lot of landlords who are scared to let people into their property they are less stressed having their properties empty. All the punishment beatings handed out to landlords? Wasn’t really smart was it? Also the taxes? Why would anyone bother!

Exactly. I am a Landlord for 25 years and scaling down in 2022/3. Tax way too high and all the hassle/demonisation is unbearable. FFG failed and we are being blamed for their inactions over decades. Eire has gone down the swanny.

@@Prodrive1 Today Michael McGrath comes up with another punishment beating idea that would force losses of hundreds of thousands on landlords. Basically they want to force you to sell with tenants in situ and you have to offer the place to the sitting Tennant in situ! So, plan ahead before this is enacted and give tenants their notice.

We need the details on that plan. Surely a valuation must be done 1st and then the guide price given to the tenants. In lots of cases the tenant wont have the money to buy anyhow. Its when the council can buy it is the issue I feel as they may low ball their offer. We dont know yet so hard to judge.

@J C Irish people MUST come first. This is our country we can't expect migrants to be give special treatment because this is what's happening. Do you really think they care who is getting evicted no they don't. And the sooner people wake up the better and now these shower are trying to bring in a bill to put elderly people out of their home to let in Ukrainian families and illegals, also in that bill they will be after people that have spare rooms. You wont see them standing up for all those people.

If your rental contract ends it ends, it not the landlords responsibility what happened to you, an eviction ban is a ban on people who own house to sell it or get in new tenants who will pay more, it's the government banning people from selling their house or making extra money, I don't like it

You obviously haven't got a clue how we got to this point, I'd suggest you research Michael Noonan and the Department of Finance relationship with Hedge Funds that led us down this path. This all began with the NAMA Act in 2009 when Hedge Funds began acquiring properties in Ireland. This country and it's citizens are at breaking point, citizens rights come before all other people in Ireland.

@@lughaidhmoutia3589 Those so called small landlords are nothing more than opportunistic trash, so you think it is ok to evict an 86 year old woman that has been renting a property for 14 years. How about charging extortionate rents to people? Do you think that is ok too. I own rental properties in Northern Ireland by the way, and I charge my tenants €650 a month for a 3 bedroom house. I certainly wouldn't evict my tenants under no circumstances if they couldn't find alternative rental properties. I actually have a social conscience.
