I'm a huge fan of portable audio devices and when Pecsu sent me their last model, the P5S, I instantly fell in love with it. It's all the best parts of my android phone, minus the cellular connection and monthly bill. I concluded in the review for that model that it was almost perfect in my eyes and just about the perfect android mp3 player in my opinion. A few months have passed and when Pecsu reached out to me to see if I was interested in their new model, the G5, I honestly couldn't have been more excited to see what the next step up would be. In this video we do a quick unboxing and review of the G5 in comparison to the P5S to see what's changed, what's improved, and what's gotten worse.

Thanks for sharing another in-depth review! I'd heard about the G5 model but now I'm glad that I've settled on the P5S after hearing your thoughts 🤘🎶 Are there any good tutorial videos or articles that you would recommend about sideloading apps?

Thorough review - Thanks - I was too hopeful they'd finally got these right. Personally, I gave up on these MP3 players a few years ago. A good Motorola burner phone, from Walmart, suits my needs for now. I may look for a hack to turn off the "no sim card" notification, someday. But, it stopped bothering me after a couple days. :)

Motorola E5 Play had a plastic back that you could pop off with just your fingernail. You could actually get inside and remove the battery. I do not like SEALED devices, or GLASS BACK shell design.

@@kitsunegiblaze8022 Yep. I have a couple Motorola E6's (w/o sim) that have the slip out battery. (#KE40) One is my main MP3 player. Sometimes I'll teather it from my phone, that has an unlimited hot spot plan. Not digging on the dedicated MP3 players. I tried several, but the burner phones are the better option for me.

You do such great reviews in your videos. A balanced review that covers many questions that we have that the big companies are so slow or refuse to answer. You help us alot when it comes to decision making by seeing the pros and cons. With your tech talents, you have a great future ahead of you. Funny you should mention it, the A09X is on my todo list. Agptek reached out to me a little while ago offering to send one for me to review and I gave them the green light but haven't heard back from them yet.

@@sjm4306 Since you are very experienced with Mp3 players; do you think that this mp3 player can hold more than 3 playlists? Do you think it will have the function to add a new playlist to the default 3? If not, what other mp3 player could do it?

Hello, congratulations for the review, really very interesting. I wanted to ask you for an opinion, I have a fiio M6, do you think it is worth replacing it with this Pecsu G5? Or replace it with Innioasis G1? Thanks for any response, have a nice day.

So here's my take: fiio make really nice hardware but their software can be quite buggy and needs some work, I actually would suggest the Pecsu P5s over the G5 unless you absolutely need the google play store (I mention the specific reasons why in this video), the Innioasis G1 looks very similar to some 4" android mp3 player models I've reviewed in the past on the channel and my biggest gripe is these smaller models tend to have pretty mediocre battery life due to their tiny internal lipo batteries.

Was able to remove the lock Click by downloading a volume control app and turning it down. Even stayed after downloading the volume control app

I have been trying and trying to figure out how to use the SD card with the G5 but it seems to be much more complicated than I expected, or even than it should be. If you could make a video showing how to do it properly, I would be very happy. Hell, I'll even pay you for the assistance lol. I paid $200 for a quality 1TB SD card and paid $149.99 for the G5 and I am happy with the device but I really want to get this damn thing running properly.

My current top pick is the Pecsu P5S, though I just received a new Luoran model that looks in the ballpark specwise but with a much larger battery so it's possible this model may become my new favorite depending on how testing goes.

I'm not sure if your aware but in the video you said that the pecsu G5 charges at 2000 mah, I was thinking of buying this and it now says that it charges at 3000 mah. Maybe an update?

It's possible they listened to my criticism and increased the capacity but I couldn't say for sure without buying a new one and tearing it open to check the battery.

can it support play 24bit flac? or lossless, lossy!!!

It's basically an android phone minus the phone part so any app an android phone can run it will run (well at least up to android os 8.0). The biggest factor I'm gonna guess in playing 24bit flacs is the dac output so to really get good audio out you would need a usb c dac dongle.

On this model or another? Depends if you have access to a bootloader you can often force a clean wipe from that but only certain devices from certain manufacturers have user accessible bootloaders.

Im looking for a great android with playstore mp3/mp4 player 4/5" screen. That will play music,video,game,wifi,bluetooth and will be under $100 with a good ish screen. That doesn't break the bank. It seems there isn't a great choice out there?

Honestly a good solution is to get a used flagship samsung phone and just use it over wifi/offline. Go back a few generations and they get pretty cheap but still very capable hardware, the only thing you gotta worry about is if the battery is still good.

If they're gunna make them THIS THICK, they should design them with a Removable Backplate, like Motorolla E5 Play, so that when the battery finally dies permanently, you can pop the back off and put in a brand new Battery. So you can keep using the device. I ~hate~ permanently sealed devices. If the battery dies, that's it. Done. Game Over.

God I wish device manufacturers would design modern devices with user removable batteries. I know it's possible to open adhesive sealed devices but it's a pain and will never go back together exactly the same anyway. Having an easily removable back would also allow bigger after market replacement batteries which would be a huge bonus imo.

--- I talked directly to the INNIOASIS people via the Email listed on their packaging and I have given them the following suggestions: 1: Create the device with a removable plastic backplate so that the user can easily replace the internal battery when it dies.... 2: Increase onboard RAM to 3gb. This will add a bit more processing power so that apps run better. 3: Use a higher rated CPU. 4: Create the device to be able to install your own apps.... a locked down device is too limited in its ability. 5: Create the device with larger POWER / VOLUME buttons. 6: Keep having the Hiby Player for Android as the primary Music App, it has great features.... like MSEB. 7: Supply a silicone soft case that will protect the player from drops so that it won't break easily....

I'll never understand how wanting more consumer friendly features is now considered "boomer" behavior but sucking up corporate propaganda to desire throwaway tech is trendy.
