In one week the cutting and hedge laying work has gone in to crazy overdrive. Work output in one week is crazy!! Gone crazy on cutting the hedge to set it up for the hedge laying. This hedgerow is a good size and age to be laying as all the hedging plants are fairly uniformed making the work process much easier.
Most of the time this week is spent cutting the sides and top of the hedge down to the correct height and width for laying. This kind of hedge cutting work is all done using a pair of branch loppers and a chainsaw to cut through the thicker parts of the hedge.
First cutting down the sides of the hedge and removing the brash and cuttings to make some space to work on cutting the tall branches on the top of the hedge down.
At the same time as cutting and removing the branches out of the hedgerow keeping an eye out for any useful poles that may make good hedging stakes or binders.
When cutting along the hedge also making sure i have gone back to pick up and remove any debris and off cuts that falls down in to the base of the hedge as this will make laying the hedge much easier plus it removes anything that may introduce a disease or fungal infection to the hedgerow in the future and allow more room, light and air to the base of the hedgerow therefor simulating crazy regrowth of the hedge plus overall health and well being.
