Mikel Arteta is following in Arsene Wenger’s footsteps at Arsenal. In a span of 5 years, he has transformed Arsenal into an elite club again and in back to back seasons they’ve been competing for the premier league title against Manchester City and it tells you how much progress that’s been made under him. During their Golden Era with Wenger as their manager, they were one of the best teams we’ve ever seen they were consistently in the race for the title and also were seen as a contender in Europe. With Thierry Henry Dennis Bergkamp Robert Pires Patrick Viera etc, they were a force to be reckoned with in English football. They won 3 league titles under him and what they did in the 2003-04 season is incredibly difficult even though they drew 12 games, they it really went unbeaten throughout the season which is an incredible achievement. They have been rebuilding for many years and initially the post Wenger era was difficult for them as Unai Emery a very good manager struggled to fill his shoes and after they got Mikel Arteta, the fortunes of this football club changed. With the results that they were getting, there were fans that turned against him and felt as if he wasn’t the right manager for this long term project. There was a feeling that he could get sacked with the results getting worse and worse. At the time people forget that they won a trophy and then despite not winning games, you can see the philosophy that Arteta was trying to implement in this team which is reminiscent to the way that Manchester City play because he did work under Pep Guardiola as his assistant manager. Even though they finished outside of the top 4 in the 2021-22 season, Arsenal showed signs of progress after finishing in 8th the 2 seasons prior. Now, Arsenal are seen as a contender for the premier league title. Yes, last season they bottled the Premier League title after being in 1st place for majority of the season, but the positive thing is that they secured champions league football for the first time in 7 seasons, and nobody expected them to be in a title race. Many of us saw last season as an overachievement, but this season they’re even better. They haven’t played in the champions league for years and on paper getting to the quarterfinals is good enough even though they lost one of the weakest Bayern Munich teams we’ve even, regardless of how they’re playing, Bayern Munich have elite players and they’re a team with experience and high pedigree in champions league football meanwhile Arsenal are relatively young team that’s gonna gain experience in this competition for the years to come. Even though they’ve played a game more, Arsenal are top of the league and if results go their way, they might win their first premier league title since the 2003-04 season. That would be a significant achievement because not only have they taken a big step forward, but they’re going to beat Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City and stop them from winning 4 consecutive titles in a row. The premier league is the most competitive league in the world, but from a longevity perspective Manchester City have turned it into a “farmers leagues because they’ve won 5 titles in the last 6 years, they have a chance of winning 6 out of 7 league titles and as good of a team they are, you don’t want to see the same team dominating the league every year. They’re inevitable at this stage of a season, but no matter what happens, Arsenal didn’t bottle the title because they’ve been superb of late and whatever happens, they’re going to be a contender in the premier league for the years to come and also in the champions league, they’ve never ever won it, and I think they can also be a contender in Europe as well because they’re only gonna get better from here.

Mikel didn't inherit a squad packet with title and cups winning players like Arsene did, he got presented with the shit show. It's amazing he wanted the job seeing as how he had not long since retired from playing and knew exactly what state the team was in, he was captaining it 2 years earlier. I've got sick and tired listening to the toxics demanding he should be sacked. Props to Josh Kroenke who stood up and put the club behind the manager and a word of caution to rival fans always demanding the same when things don't go the way they want for few matches, be careful what you wish for. If the toxics had have got their way we'd still be down where Utd are today.

4 years, 1 FA (tbf) Unai did most of the heavy lifting. If we don't win, get him packing! I love Wenger to death, and as much as he took us to another level, he equally created much of the the horrible things we experienced in our lifetime inclufing letting go of Van Persie, Adebayor but most importantly, planting a self defeating narrative that 4th is a trophy, well, IT's NOT! You slack on a manager who took us to the FINAL of Europa and praise a manager whose been here for 4 yrs with only an FA cup? Common now!

Under Mikel Arteta, Arsenal are winning games in different ways. With Wenger in charge they were known for playing breathtaking football and dominating teams physicality, this current Arsenal team has both and a mentality that was missing under previous teams. From possession to counter attacking football, Arsenal know how to break down teams in different ways and this is something that makes your attack very lethal when you can play against low blocks play out from the back and hit teams on the counter attack. This is a skill and this requires elite level coaching. In modern football fullbacks have changed particularly in this team as they’re using CBs as fullbacks on the left and the right. From a tactical perspective, they’re a well cohesive team and Arsenal have also developed this ability in being able to grind out results even when they don’t play at their best and they know how to find a way when the tough gets going even if it hasn’t translated direly into trophies yet and in the future it will even if it doesn’t, Arteta is one of the best tactical managers in the world right now. The most impressive thing about his tenure at Arsenal is the recruitment and now they’ve been able to rebuild under him. They got rid of so many players and he even made a big decision to strip Aubameyang of the captaincy and got rid of him and while it was a controversial decision at the time since he was their top goalscorer, it was the right decision for the team in the long run since in a young squad, it’s detrimental to them to have a mercenary in the squad and Mikel Arteta saw that in him. They also got rid of a lot of players and every new signing they got divided opinion. Ben White is now an elite right back as he’s solid on defense and his attacking ability has also improved a lot even though he started his career as a center back at Brighton and when Arsenal signed him, 50 million was seen as an overpay. Gabriel and William Saliba might be the best defensive partnership in the premier league right now and has been in the last 2 seasons and they complement each other so well and as a result Arsenal don’t concede a lot of goals. Martin Odegaard was seen as a Real Madrid reject who’s now an elite midfielder and has had back to back seasons with 10+ goals in all competitions from the midfield position and he is the best midfielder in the premier league after Kevin De Bruyne in my opinion. Declan Rice has elevated this team to another level and a big reason for why they’re even better than last season, he’s a CDM, he’s playing more as an 8 and a box to box midfielder and when you pay 100 million for a player they have to be the right fit for your team and that’s what Rice has been for Arsenal and he is their Rodri. I was confused on why Arsenal signed another goalkeeper in David Raya, but he’s been a massive upgrade on Ramsdale even though he did very well. Arteta has been able to revive struggling players. We all thought that Kai Havertz was a flop and even he as a CF looks much more comfortable at Arsenal than he ever did at Chelsea and Jorginho has also been a great addition. Given how badly he’s flopped at Chelsea, they dogged a bullet on Murdyk since Leandro Trossard has been ice cold and this guy is always scoring goals and it’s an asset for them to have. Bukayo Saka has elevated his game to another level as he went from a LB to an elite winger. There’s been constant debate as to whether or not he’s a world class player, with him having 20 goals and 14 assists in all competitions this season, it’s proof that he’s not a “one season wonder” and I think that people forget that he’s only 22 years old yet is producing those numbers and being the main man on a title contender. After Mohamed Salah, Saka will be the best right winger in the world let alone the premier league. His development on players and recruitment decisions have been a foundation for their success and hopefully Arsenal can translate this into trophies.

Villa have done incredible stuff. But people's view of arsenal isn't just about this season. It's going from 8th to genuine title challengers in 18 months. @Iamsnowhitesamuel He did not start as a left back. You are mistaken. His first games for Arsenal were in the Europa league, where he played predominantly as a left winger. These are facts you can easily verify. Our left backs back then under emery were Kolasinac and Tierney. But they were always injured, which forced Saka to be used as left back a lot. But that's not the position he started his senior career for Arsenal.

I have been an Arsenal fan for 22 years. Being a fan is a roller coaster ride to say the least. There are many highs and many lows. Watching Arsenal finish 8th two seasons in a row was brutal. But, I always trusted Mikel Arteta. I knew we couldn't be like every other squad that just replaces their manager when he struggles. Now, they are reaping the rewards. The Kroenkes have realized that Arsenal winning the Premier League will bring them much more money than their American teams do. Josh Kroenke realizes this and now spends a lot of time in London and personally talks regularly with Edu about signing the best players. Arsenal is not going anywhere. Last season wasn't a fluke and neither is this season. We will win the Premier League within the next few season, watch and trust the process.

Wegners last season he finished 6th in 17/18, Emery then took us to a European final in his first year and finished fifth in 18/19 which was qualification for Europa again. Poor results up until December 19/20 are what cost Emery the sack. It was Arteta in 20/21 that finished 8th so the following 21/22 season, when Arsenal's true identity came into fruition, was the first year without Europe.

Arsenal didn't have the money to buy players, and had to sell players to pay for stadiums. Arsenal isn't elite until they win something. Wenger won the league quickly. It's been 5 years, and Arteta hasn't won the league, just yet.

What killed Wenger was moving to the Emirates and not being able to foresee Chelski Russian money coming in which bumped us down the pecking order then along comes City's oil money. Wenger was trying to stay true to the game and FFP which would never have worked. Going against United, Chelsea and City all spending mega money. It was horrible how Wenger was treated at the end but that hatred should have been pointed further up to the board and owners. Then throw in players soo quick to jump shit. Sanchez hurt alot more than RVP leaving. Probably the best player we've had during the Emirates era. Fast forward and Arteta is doing something amazing but again up against Pep's city but still getting called bottle jobs by fans of spuds, united and Chelski lol. How City have got away with 115 charges just shows how corrupt the FA and Premiership have been with how fast they have reacted to Everton and Forest. Praying the spuds can pull some magic out and beat City. I see no shame in finishing 2nd twice to City. Their squad is stacked beyond belief. As a die hard fan since 1992 we are in a generational shift and never been soo happy to look forward to seeing Saka, Ode, Saliba, Big Gab, Martinelli etc all hitting their primes with us then the players coming through the youth ranks look insane aswel. Good times ahead just need a partner for Rice as Partey can't stay fit all season, New top class striker and a new winger or Olise to rotate with Saka for right and left wing as he suffers from burn out.

You're missing a lot of context. For instance, the "Wenger Out" campaign was initiated by xenophobe Adrian Durham, then with Talksport, who would constantly mock and criticize Wenger. Supporters who echoed this sentiment were often influenced by Durham and the equally xenophobic DT from AFTV, who later got convicted for kidnapping his ex-girlfriend. AFTV significantly amplified the "Wenger Out" narrative, but it was a marginal movement at best. Thinking Wenger was the problem overlooks the reality for most genuine Arsenal fans. There was no Financial Fair Play, the stadium debt needed to be managed, and despite these challenges, we consistently qualified for the Champions League until the stadium was paid off. Interestingly, Man City had their oil-rich owners finance their stadium, a luxury we didn't have. You're ignoring two crucial points: Financial Fair Play wasn't in place, and the "Wenger Out" campaign remained marginal until the UK media amplified it. Many of us believed that Red and White Holdings could help retain our players, so we were more focused on board changes rather than management changes.

Arsene Wenger would have won much more had he left us to take on one of the many top jobs in rich clubs that he refused for Arsenal. He overachieved in the second half of his Arsenal career with all the stadium debts and wage limitation. He was fighting against clubs backed by entire states while having to sell his best players regularly and he still played the best football and challenged in many seasons until injuries hit and the squad proved not to have enough depth. Even when he created history for Arsenal, he wasn't really backed financially and he overachieved. Ferguson spent more money on Ferdinand than Wenger spent on Lehmann, Lauren, Toure, Campbell, Cole, Ljungberg, Vieira, Gilberto and Pires combined! That was about half the team he went invincible with! He's one of the greatest managers ever, he gave us our best ever days and Arsenal wouldn't be anywhere near as healthy and as financially stable it is had he not given the sacrifice and had he not taken us through the storm that the new stadium brought.
