Little tip I saw on someone's channel is maybe carry one of those thick sponges people use to wash cars! Absorb the water from your seat, ring it out and repeat

It’s the best kayak you can get without spending over $800-$1000. Those $1,500 ones with the flat noses and tails and decks you can stand on look so nice, i forget what they are called but extremely stable.

If you are looking for a cheap grab and go and if you can find it for what I paid for it($370 last year at Runnings) it is a GREAT little yak! It is light, fast for its size(9'6"), has good secondary stability, and is very maneuverable. Also, it is VERY versatile! My 6 year old daughter claimed it as her kayak last week, and with an additional seat($20 at Runnings) she can reach the foot pegs and paddle it around, and my son who is 6'2" can even fit in it with the adjustable foot pegs maxed out:) I added 4 handle on mine and took off the one that come on the front and back as they are very loud.

I just got the Castaway, which is the same kayak without the add-ons (pedals, rails, etc.). The first time I took it out (only so far), the same thing happened with water in the seat. I folded it down to sit on the back to not sit in a puddle of water. The next day I ordered a stadium seat from Amazon which should solve that problem.

So I live in central Ohio, marshaville. The snow / ice be off yard tomorrow. I'm bring kayak inside. Dont want to drill kayak plastic cold. Harley chopper takes up building. Lol I spent a month gathering/assembled all the pieses for the kayak. Bring In for 5 days set up and assemble. Its pelican nxt 100 angler. Same as yours pretty much. I cant wait December tell now. Long time waiting.

Yikes! I bought mine from Runnings last year for US $370, and they have the cheaper version(Not ad good seat, set foot pegs, and no exocrate(The crate is awesome) for $280 at Walmart. It is called the Pelican Motion.

Hi - Given this video is a few years old now I wondered if you are still confident this is the best bang for your buck kayak. I have seen a lot of other models uses such as the Pelican Icon and was wondering if this might be a better option. Thanks

Just looked at the pelican icon and that's going for 500usd with similar features, better chair and a sealed compartment. That'll come up to about $660cad. $110 more than the sentinel at $550 but you get the upgrades. The seat does get uncomfortable after about 4-5 hours so I think the Icon is a good contender.

I really wish someone would compare stability. I purchased a cheap Walmart kayak then soon gave it away to a neighbor. lean left or right your swimming.

Most sit-on-top kayaks require you to have some core balance. You saw how I went over some 1 foot rollers, this one isn't too bad imo. I have a few more videos trying to fill 10L water bags while on it. If you want more stability, look into sit-in kayaks

I'd like to see how this would do on the Grand River. The shallow sections would probably cause some issues, I'm assuming.

Is the kayak still a good fishing kayak? You still happy with it??

Yup, still using it. Used it more than my boat last year. Obviously if your budget allows, there are better ones out there but you'll be spending double or more for a stand up kayak. If this is your only vessel, I would probably dish out a little more for a better one but weight is a huge factor when it comes to kayaks for me. If I'm taking this out, it would be at a smaller body of water and usually one that is limited to non motorized vessels. That usually also means there's no boat launch and the entry point will be narrow so carrying this up and down is the biggest reason why I chose this kayak

Wait I have the same one but the foot rest don't move on it. I just bought it 2 days ago, and will say I do like how it handles on the lake on waves around boats and jet skis

Hey, I am looking at this for my first fishing kayak. Will the back area fit a milk crate? If so, with or without the insert?

I'm 5'9" 175 lbs, and have VERY good balance from doing Martial Arts for 31 years and skateboarding, and I CAN stand in it and paddle around, however, if you dont have VERY good balance I wouldn't try it🤷‍♂️It is an excellent all around light weight throw and go, as well as its pretty fast for only being 9'6".

They sell them at Canadian tire as well, but stock might be an issue. If you go to the Canadian tire website and search up your local store it will show you if they have any

There r a lot of newer models out now. Mines pretty old. Look into Garmin, they're actually making some ground breaking stuff. I'd suggest getting one with ice fishing features as well if you're into that.

We bought 2 of these. Pelican castaway model. Basically the same model except for the leg adjustment. Paid $299 @ tractor supply. We will be buying accessories to upgrade but this kayak is worth it

it's not the greatest cuz it's short at 9.5 ft, but it stays straight for the most part. Once in a long while you have to do an extra stroke on the same side, but doesn't happen often.
