3 STEP SKETCHING PROCESS that will help keep your sketches loose and expressive. I was looking at @KarlKopinski ‘s work on Instagram (which you should definitely check out) and I was really interested in the way he does his construction lines.
I’ve been trying to sketch the final lines first go but I think this method of using very light swirling lines gives a good idea where the main shapes are (I personally don’t like drawing traditional spheres and boxes). Then you can sketch over these loose lines more confidently with your final line work.

I love your loose approach so much... The beginning stage is especially relaxing and that's how I like to draw 😆

That's because of skill transfer. All the unconscious/conscious tips you learned across years reflect in your work. Working with two tiers of pencils (hierarchy) Shading in the same angle (uniformity) Keeping loose at the enveloping stage (anatomy & proportions, easier to fix when not comitted.) Nutshell: it's studied "carlessness", a kind of art sprezzatura. Nothing wrong with it, just saying don't feel disincouraged as if "you're not cut out", it takes years to draw in seconds ;)

This retired makeup artist (now, portrait artist) loves the way you add a bit of flattery to the face. Too many artists neglect that special touch.

I like your "loose lines" approach at the outset; you get the general shapes out of the way and then zero-in on the details. I think you could have colored her in to give the drawing more "pop"!

Is there a reason you've sharpened these pencils conventionally as opposed to with a knife?
@SketchingScottie
@SketchingScottie 3 жыл бұрын
Yes partly because these are graphite pencils which is easier to use a sharpener and I’m also not using too much of the side of the pencil so I didn’t need to use a knife to cut back the wood much. Most of my older videos I’ve been using a charcoal pencil which I found really hard to use a normal sharpener as it always breaks!
@MisterKisk
@MisterKisk 3 жыл бұрын
@@SketchingScottie Would you say it's better to use a pencil sharpener for graphite pencils then? Or is it fine to sharpen with a knife?
