It’s a beast of a rod! Designed for speed jigging, but “just about ok” for SPJ for doggies/AJs

One question as I’m doing almost the same setup for shore jigging. You say you are going to do slow pitch jigging with this but the rod and the reel you mentioned are both high speed? Will that work?

Technically no, but I did it all the same, I just needed to adapt my technique. You say you’re using the same set up from the shore - I certainly wouldn’t want to cast with this rod (too short & too stiff)

@@lurefishingforwrasseuk2588 thanks for the reply that’s interesting to know that you are having success doing this. The one I’ve ordered is the spinning 3.04m version as I understand there are a few in different sizes and I made sure to get the longest one

It’s a stiff rod, apparently aimed at speed jigging rather than SPJ. Ask me again mid December as I’ll have used it by then

Good evening, I would like to ask you a question. I would be interested in a rod very similar to this one, in particular it is a Daiwa Powermesh game travel 20-60. My targets are barracudas and bluefish in the Mediterranean (Italy) so fish from 1 to 4kg, nothing huge, it is rare that someone bigger comes along. I use 30/35g longjerks and 40g jigs. Your rod weighs around 295g while the Daiwa weighs 245g and is a 240cm, therefore very very similar also in terms of structure. Do you think it would be able to throw jerks far? and also would it be tiring to use for prolonged sessions? Is it better to opt for something else? thanks I await your reply.

This is definitely NOT the rod for that type of fishing. This is designed for speed jigging or extreme SPJ targeting GTs, Doggies, YFT and groupers, with PE6-8 braid. The powermesh sounds ideal. Have you seen my video on the Gamakatsu Akilas? That’d be more like what I’d suggest

@@lurefishingforwrasseuk2588hi my friend I saw the video you mentioned, unfortunately that rod is too expensive for my budget. The Powermesh weighs 245g while the gamakatsu only 165, do you think these 80 grams of difference could weigh a lot? I see all the other spinning rods of this casting weight weighing around 160-180 grams but unfortunately finding a travel one at the price I want is not easy. Thank you

Rods are SO difficult! I drove a 10 hour return trip to buy new rods last week! All I can suggest is to go to tackle shops that actually have the rods in stock. Once you can feel/wiggle each one, then you’ll know which is right for you
