This video shows how to take apart and service the popular Penn SpinFisher V (fifth generation) 7500 SSV large Saltwater fishing reel in a step by step process.

I sent my Spinfisher V 4500 in to Penn for service. The reel came back so packed full of grease you could barely turn the handle. Then I started watching your videos.

Penn tends to put a lot of grease in the reels. It won't hurt if you service the reel frequently. If it stays there too long and dries up, it does become a problem. Thanks for watching - Dennis

@@2ndChanceTackle Some parts of my Penn fishing reel were broken. I made and installed these parts myself. The problem was, not enough grease. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

I like these reels even though they are made in China but there are a few things I just don’t understand. Why would you put screws inside os a gasket meant to seal the reel? It doesn’t make sense to me. I applaud the attempt to mate the reel more sealed. From what I have read the attempt at sealing where the handle is attached doesn’t work very well either. I get nervous when a reel has this many parts. You make it look so easy. Obviously this is a far cry from a 706Z. It is a shame the bearing and pinion etc. are not as protected as the body and the drag. I imagine this is a nice reel if you take care of it. Great video Dennis!

I wonder what the reason is, for the single drag washer on the top of the spool,when the Slammer drag is underneath? Keep up the great work and stay safe. 🎣

I don't know. Maybe is is a better way to hold the drag adjuster knob in place

Hey, does this reel have a pretty high minimum drag? I was just servicing one and when I reassembled the drag, even when the drag cap is off, it takes a fair amount of pressure to turn the drag, was just wondering if that was how it was meant to be

You should be able to turn the spool without a lot of effort. Maybe the new washers are just a little tight and will seat once fishing - Dennis

Hi.. Spinfisher 8500 live liner or standard 9500 is better to buy

Depends what you are fishing for and how you fish. If you are live lining or drifting chunks, then the bait feeder may be better. I prefer the standard. Less moving parts is a better formula for less things to break. - Dennis

I can't find any video of the Penn long cast disassembly at all.

Which model are you referring to? There are several that are not sold in the US like the Powerspin and the Surfblaster and I would not see those in my shop. Let me know which one you are asking me about and I will try to find a similar one if not the one you have. Thanks - Dennis

Thank you. I have not done a video on that one and as you can see, I was not aware of it until you asked. That is a different set up than the regular V 7500 so you can't use that as a reference. I will add this to my request list and do a video should a customer bring one in. Thanks again for asking - Dennis
