The guy who started off the song produced it. His name is Hui

Their leader Hui wrote and produced this song. He writes and produces nearly all of their discography and is well recognised for his amazing vocals. He took part in the show “Breakers” which is a tv show where the contestants have to write, produce and preform their own songs. He was the runner up 😊

the ones who did the high pitch notes in the back were actually two members! hui (the one in the beginning) and jinho (the one in the box).

Basquiat was written for a competition program called "Road to Kingdom" ... so the sound/aesthetic disconnect you clocked can be contributed to that. (Like watching a musician perform for a ceremony or tribute versus a concert. So I wasn't bothered by your conclusion of it. )

You guys need to react to Pentagon's "Daisy." Very well written song.

That shot of one member sitting on a chair with many hands trying to reach him.. that was actually the rest of the members' arms 😂 they didn't have anyone else on set.. even the rapper's double was another member with a similar build to him.. it wasn't obvious because his whole face was covered They also did a lot of acting while filming this music video.. if you focus solely on the video you'll notice that they're basically portraying the lyrics from the chorus "love, fall, hurt and crazy again and again" I'd recommend checking out their song Shine.. it's completely different though so it might throw you off at first but it's a BOP EDIT : patreons please recommend pentagon again :(

I'm so glad you liked this one!!! This song was composed by Hui (Pentagon's leader), Nathan (a producer friend who works with Pentagon a lot!) and Yunji. The arrangement was done by the latter two. Lyrics were written by Hui and Wooseok (Pentagon's main rapper). It's really funny to me how different Basquiat and Dr.Bebe are since they were produced by the exact same group of people! The highnotes throughout the song were done by Pentagon's main vocals Jinho, Hui and Hongseok (he mostly harmonized with the other two). The high notes in the chorus were done by Jinho and Hui too. They are Pentagon's oldest members and known for their insane vocal range! The hands in the one scene belong to the other members btw. ... PLEASE LOOK FORWARD TO THEIR COMEBACK IN MARCH! It will be really interesting since other members are likely to have produced the song and since Jinho and Hui are currently doing their mandatory military service their sound is expected to change a bit (We don't have to worry about their vocal capability though, since they have one of the best vocal lines in kpop from their generation. Recently there was a collaboration between several groups for a song and Kino, who is Pentagon's subvocal, was the main voal there :) they'll be fine!) I wonder if you would like this song of theirs: Lost Paradise. It's not a title track, but it's really good! Thank you for giving them another chance!!

It'z crazy how Dr Bebe is such a masterpiece musically. It's one of the best produced song in kpop for me. Hui is an amazing producer and singer (he was the one recording the sounds you like with Jinho and added it to the track) and he should definitely have more recognition.

Pentagon's Hui is a vocal legend! His version of "Dalla Dalla" smashes. It is amazing the sounds songs can take on when they are in the hands of different artists!

Hui is underrated as a vocalist/musician when people talk about the best in KPop. He needs more hype.

Pentagon has been one of the most underrated groups in recent years to come out of kpop. They come from a relatively small company (cube entertainment) so a lot of people didn't pay attention to them in the beginning. They had a viral hit with "shine" but still didn't breakout until this song along with their appearance on "road to kingdom"
