How about Freddie Mercury “Golden Boy” with Monserrat Cabelle. You did Barcelona and it’s my favorite reaction of yours. She’s wearing a red dress in the video. It’s more of Freddie than her in this song.

as others have commented, this is "pandemic live", where artists who were scheduled to perform on live talk shows couldn't directly perform there. So the artists performed on their studios, sent them to the talk shows, and the results were studio recordings with some tweaks. For this particular performance, there were actually 2 videos. The one that they sent to the talk show (not available on YT anymore, but some reactors reacted to this), without them jumping around in the video. And this second one that they decided to edit more (both video and audio) and put it as the official music video on their channel. I am not sure on why they still put "live" there. Probably to promote them on the talk show. Also, the run by Scott here is different than the official from their album, so it is clearly not just lipsyncing from their album. And lastly, "The Lucky Ones" album has alot of layering, so when they performed the songs live, some of them have back track vocals.

It was a live performance, in that they were each recorded singing live alone, then edited together for an appearance on a talk show during COVID. It was as live as COVID allowed, lol. The Lucky Ones album, which this was on, was a very personal album and they each had songs that spoke to their own experiences. That may be where you're getting the solo vibe, from. You'll hear that throughout this album.

They have several live videos. I believe this one was performed live (What you're hearing, maybe on the Kelly Clarkson show?) And then they did editing to their live performance to make the video.

It's kind of "pandemic live". It's a new recording compared to the album one. There is layering in this particular song so that part is obviously pre-recorded. Then they sang this live over and tweaked it before sending it to the tv show they're on. More of a "new one take recording"

If I'm not mistaken this is another fine piece from Kirstie as she also co wrote Be My Eyes. This song was marketed as "Live" cuz like other's have commented it was originally aired on Kelly's daytime talk show during the pandemic & i think they also had an Iheartradio version as well but the only version that's not either been deleted or made private is the PTX edit. Of course if it was a traditionally live video u wouldn't see the dancing mics but if u look closely when they're all standing in a row there's a slight yet noticeable mismatch in the way everyone is standing. I think this video was shot the same way Kirstie's other song Be my Eyes was show in the regards that each band member is digitally added to the video to make it look as if they're all standing together when in actuality they're in different places & just CGI pasted in after.

I saw this recorded live on the Kelly Clarkson show. They took that recording and cut it up in the edit to make it look as you see here for the official video. Personally, I preferred it when I watched it on Kelly Clarkson without them popping in and out like you see here. But it absolutely was recorded live.

They sang it live for the show and that’s what the show aired. You didn’t actually see them singing it live in real time. They had to record it first since they couldn’t be there since it was lockdown. The show then produced their sound before it aired. Then Ptx took the video and moved all the people around.

This IS a live performance from the Kelly Clarkson show. PTX lists it as live on their channel, and I know they would never lie about something that they’ve done. If you look at the live performance at the Hollywood Bowl (at which I was in attendance) with 20,000 Pentaholix singing BGVs, you’ll understand.

They sang it live individually since this was filmed during lockdown. It was sent to the Kelly Clarkson show and the show then produced the sound we’re hearing. They made it tv ready.

I have a degree in music. I get your point about the 'live' issue. But pentatonix fans are pretty rabid about not liking the nit picky technicalities that make no difference to them. Even I was turned off by your evaluation. You are absolutely correct in that you need to listen to them more.

The difference is, they can do all of their recorded performances live just as good or better than their “produced” performances. You should give them a bit more credit, assuming you’ve heard how good their live performances are. Kinda discounting their abilities. How many artists are over produced??? Auto tune? Most artists can’t perform live. Just be thoroughly fair. Love you otherwise! Keep doing amazing videos.

Kelly’s show produced their sound for tv. They sang it live the way they could during quarantine and then sent it to the show since they couldn’t actually be on the show during lockdown.

I completely agree with you on it being called live or not, but If you watch their upgrade to "Gold", by Kiiera, or to any of their "Evolution" videos, and their "Silent Night" those are all labeled live, even though they are all done in the studio.Except Silent Night it was done in a church I think. But what they are calling live is when they get together as a group, and sing the song (exception to the covid thing) as the to be released video is being recorded, verses going to the studio one at a time and recording their part, then combining it, and then lip syncing to make the video. But again I don't call that live, but they can legally call it live by a technicality. The same way the "Jelly Beans" you buy in the $0.50 cent packs at the cash register are not Jelly Beans, but they are close enough that legally they can be labeled Jelly Beans.

This could easily have been done on a green screen live with five cameras and their individual shots being flipped in location on the green screen. Why do I think this? The background stays the same but the mics move when the artist moves. Also if it's lip synced, they were perfect. And I've seen them live 6 times.

Not done on a green screen. When this originally aired on Kelly’s show they were all standing in one line and not moving. They recorded it individually live for the show and the show produced it for tv sound. It was during lockdown so they couldn’t actually be on the show in person. Ptx then took the video and edited the singers around so they could use it as a video.

This was primarily written by Kirstie ( and I think a couple of professional songwriters). And yeah...definitely NOT live...unless the group has learned to teleport themselves to different mics.!?

Maybe they have learned teleportation and to move around instantaneously, and mental telepathy to sing in absolute sync and always sound the same on the chorus. That would make it live. Then again, maybe not. Loved it anyway!

When it aired in Kelly’s show they weren’t jumping around. They stood in a straight line.her show gave the. The more produced sound for tv. Ptx then Edited the video to put on their own channel with the members moving around.

How quickly you have forgotten that acts had to change how they performed during covid. And you seemed more hung up on the live label than their performance. The live moniker was wrong. This is not at all what is usually called a "love" song. It's a thank you to all those who see us better than we see ourselves, and keep us going when we're in doubt or lose our way. It's a song about mental health. Listen to the words.

It’s a mental health song. Which a lot of their latest album of originals focused on. This song is literally about being there for a person when they cant be there for themselves or don’t have self love. Kirstie basically wrote it about her fiancé being there for her when she wasn’t there for herself or was being too negative.

Disappointed Maggie. These guys are on big record label. Lawyers approve everything. They are also known for honesty and care for fans. A lot of their originals songs are layered, have a musical instrument, whatever but they honestly say so. Except where noted all voices are them, instrumentalist is almost always a group member (Kevin cello, drums, Matt drums, Scott piano, actually several have played piano for years.) No way an "Official" video would indicate live if the voices were not done live. Maybe they were physically separated by C0vid and recorded 1 take. I don't know but their reputations and legal requirements argue strongly that you are wrong. Dissappointed.

It was recorded live on the Kelly Clarkson show. It was edited later. You get so bogged down in your own "self" definitions. That you lose the magic and the talent of the situation. I find it very hypocritical that you make recorded and edited videos to emphasize people making recorded and edited videos........ It just is not fun anymore........ You are so "PURE"....... Except when you are not....... No thanks.
