Image Sync is crap! It takes forever to load images, spotty connections etc tec. Yes, I've seen the complaints which pretty much only apply to the older platform Pentax cameras.
This video is a complete demo of Image Sync, the good bad and ugly from connecting to the camera to recording video.

I am an IOS user. Happy to report no issues with using Camera Sync. I only use it with the K3/3. I agree. It’s fine

I dunno how Canon/Nikon/Sony platforms are now, but back in the time of 2018-19, image sync is way better than the Sony counterpart

The only issue I have had connecting image sync with my k3iii was due to me forgetting to turn off VPN on my phone... It's so much more useable than the old flucard I have for my old k3.

The oddity for me getting to use image sync was needing Bluetooth on. That surprised me. Why Bluetooth has to be on puzzled me and I still do not understand. The camera can overheat here in Houston while running, but image sync does work.

Bluetooth is needed for talking to the phone to get location info transfered and for remote shutter control through image sync. WiFi is for large data transfer (seeing the images), the live view in image sync and for changing the shooting settings so the camera responds to those changes. Bluetooth takes much less power than WiFi does which is why you can leave Bluetooth on for the camera and when you open image sync, it'll connect and store the location info automatically.

@@KobieMC OK so if I am reading this right, the bluetooth is for the actual control of the camera, the WiFi is for viewing image on the phone and transfer. Thank you!

Kobie, the GPS numbers are degrees and minutes (minutes of arc), not feet. I know it's the same symbol, but it's 1/60 of a degree instead. This feature is almost enough for me to upgrade to a K3/III. It would be very handy for wildlife work.

Ah, okay. I wasn't aware of the full context of the numbering. Thanks for the clarification! It is handy for wildlife if you want to remember where you saw which animal etc.

@@KobieMC I could also set up the camera near a feeder and take images remotely, or in a blind. I know it won't have great range but it would be enough.

Thanks for the video. Everything works great but the data is missing, camera settings, GPS, etc when I download. Have checked the phone that all permissions are on. Any other suggestions. The GPS info that is coming from the phone.?

@@brienthomson8916 Are you say g the data, once transfered to your phone is missing? The phone won't show GPS location (at least mine doesn't). I can get shot info if I go into the image details option though. The GPS data gets sent from the phone to the camera. The phone doesn't record the info, the camera does. If you use an editor on the computer that can show GPS coordinates, it'll show up in the exif data panel.

@@KobieMC Yes the info has been recorded when viewed in Lightroom. No shot info in the image details. The info layout appears but no data. I am using an android phone and installed image sync on my android tablet with the same result. Maybe just one of those mystery of life

@@brienthomson8916 I'm not sure if either of those will show metadata from photos not taken by the device itself. My phone has a gallery that gets gets created from image sync photos which retain the data including the location.

What if I use a Blackberry phone and Palm Pilot with my Amiga desktop? 😂😂😂😂 Seriously, using the AE-L as a wi-fi button is genius. I’d use Image Sync a lot more if I didn’t have to fiddle w menus
