It is weird but folks often forget in the actual 616 universe, Mary Jane is suppose to be older than Peter Parker. I know the ultimate universe and the Raimi films made them the same age but in the main Comics, she is older.

Much like Fable, they scanned a girl's face to make this model. In both cases they girl they scanned is absurdly pretty, and the devs chose to make them look like 30 year old men. Bro I'd sue cause that shit is basically defamation right there.

I agree, highly doubt the character model looks like that because of hardware limitations. Just look at how accurate Idris Elba's and Keanu Reeves' character models are in cyberpunk.

Same hapoened back with Mass Effect Andromeda. I was actually shocked at how good the model looks im real life. Of course the male model is almost perfectly recreated ingame. I don't need every character to look like topmodels, but at least they should drop the double standards. If the turn women into potatoes so should the do with male characters.

The western studios do this to every female character. Even Abby from TLoU2 was scanned from a real woman but they went out of their way to butcher the 3D model ( chest, shoulders, etc) to make her look more masculine.

It's like they forget that in the comics Mary Jane has always consistently been 'jaw-dropping model' tier. Even when the drawings don't quite hit right, the characters are all in agreement that she is a 10. Amazing how the 'counterpoint' people have to my comment is to start ranting about 'beauty standards' as if there is going to be any argument from anyone being serious that the new MJ look is anything approaching the 'supermodel attractive' standard MJ is supposed to meet. You know who started that 'beauty standard isn't good' crap? Women who can't meet it and are jealous. Or should I be more specific, and point out that it actually started with overweight women who refuses to put in the work to lose it? This was before the radfems got involved and made it a major problem. Do you see men complaining about attractive men? No. They either nod and move along or just say, 'damn I wish I looked like that' in a wistful tone. You don't get the hostility. Women are the group who can't handle more attractive women existing, and thus feel the need to drag the bar down to alleviate their own jealousy.

Why villians don't wear their vintage suits if that was in the comics? I'm not saying beauty standards are bad I'm just saying that not everyone has the same one That thing about man. Even Miles looks older than Peter now and the whole pitch for the first game was that this was supposed to be a spiderman that's been around a while. You see MJ character caters to the the straight male population so they make her unattractive on purpose so us "cis male pigs" can't feel attracted to her. One of the tweets in the video said that AAA developers are making designs like this to comply with global DEI standards. As absurd as this sounds, I can't help but wonder if this big push we're seeing for DEI is because companies never wanted to be progressive in the first place, aside from keeping up appearances, and stuff like this is really a ploy to make everyone sick of the idea and give up on it.

Looking at the picture, I can see a few problems, design-wise: 1. Her cheekbones are too pronunciated, which makes her older than she actually is. 2. Her mouth is too wide and too close to the nose, which makes her smile feel unnatural. All in all, the face of Mary Jane feels like it was done with a character creator from some RPG (and done a very poor job at that) and not from modeling the face of a real-life young woman.

It’s what was the final nail on the coffin for me on why I quit the franchise I was so upset with the face change I even refused to play miles and I definitely won’t be playing the new sequel that’s out soon as much as i absolutely loved playing the first one (even platinumed it) such , such a shame. My main issue with the design is that it’s a huge departure from what she looked like in the first game, meanwhile Miles and technically Peter (that’s a different can of worms) had updates to their designs.

They definitely went into her design this time around with the intent of de-beautifying her. She had a very cute look in the first game, and this time around they intentionally widened her jaw, slimmed down her lips, made her nose straighter (less buttony), added a couple fairly severe facial wrinkles, and gave her a flatter hairstyle. She looks like she aged 10 years between Spider-Man 1 and 2. Stephanie Tyler Jones’ natural beauty still shines through, but it feels like Insomniac went out of their way to age her youthful and beautiful features. It was likely done for the same reason Aloy was given the “realistic” treatment in Horizon’s sequel, Abby was a walking man tank in TLOU2, and a multitude of female characters were downgraded aesthetically in Mortal Combat. American gaming industries being overrun by idealistic bitter jealous and spiteful developers. Insomniac low key behaves kinda sussy with their motion capture actors around Spider-Man. John Bubniak was shafted and fans were given the fakest explanation for his firing, and now they’re straight up changing Stephanie’s features to intentionally make her slightly less attractive towards male audiences.

@@armaanchowdhury1690 I do. That’s not the point. The point is the actress is attractive, and her character is equally attractive since it’s her face in the first game. While it’s still her face in the second game, they intentionally made her look uglier out of jealousy and resentment. Not EVERY girl in media needs to be a supermodel, but Mary Jane is supposed to be one, and when they hired a supermodel actress you expect them to not tamper with her natural face with the intention of making her uglier. It’s mean spirited, and should be called out.
