re: the cat story...I surely hope that animal control was called and the hundreds of cats were taken to get proper medical help and removed from that property and adopted out. I can't stand animal hoarders unless they can take care of them properly and not just leave them in cages to urinate and poop all over the place including the cages below and I assume on the other cats. It's obvious that it just sat there as well seeing as how bad the ammonia smell was.

The cat story sounds like the owners are victims ofa Parasite (forgott the name), which usually lives in rats and mice and changes the behavior that the mice and rats are attracted to the cat urine so they get eaten by the cats and the parasite is in its final host the cat. That parasite can be transferred from cat to human and changes the human behavior, scarry stuff.

If I saw something genuinely illegal or dangerous at someone else's house, I would report it (anonymously if possible) to the relavent authorities regardless of what that meant for whatever job I had that sent me to that location. No way I could ignore something like animal abuse or child abuse or illegal and dangerous weapons or evidence that someone was causing physical harm to (or intended to cause physical harm to) another human being.

Im from Germany and my suggestion, given that this is set in a wooded area, is a hunters butchery room. To me OPs words 1:1 discribe the one I know... The one I know has two more details that might freak out a city kid nor knowing what they walked into: pulley system on the ceiling and loppers repurposes to cut bones.

Back decades ago I did pizza delivery. People dont hide the shit they are doing from pizza delivery drivers. I'm surprised that the cops don't put undercover cops as pizza delivery drivers and send really good pizza discount offers on places they want to get warrants to search.

I used to fix garage doors in North east New Jersey. This one client came up to me after I was done and said “follow me I’ll show you something” (This was a large house) He brings me to his “Trophy Room” Mounted on his wall was the stuffed head of a bull African Bush Elephant. “I have 3 more whole ones in shipping containers over seas” He also had Lions, leapords, cougars, wolves, bears standing there stuffed. He then points to a wall with a photo of him, George HW Bush, and an Admiral on a hunting trip together in Africa. Guy was some type of political broker.

People who train falcons are called falconers, and they do important work as they use their trained birds to cull populations of prey birds like ducks and geese from around airports because of the huge risk those birds pose to airplanes when taking off or landing as a bird sucked into an engine could destroy that engine or a bird hitting a windshield panel could severely injure or kill a pilot just because of how fast the plane and bird are traveling relative to each other, it becomes nearly impossible to avoid bird strikes by something like an airliner. This is the kind of event that inspired the 2016 Tom Hanks movie Sully. Also, hobbyists in this activity will use the falcons to hunt small game like wild ducks and rabbits, the natural prey of such birds.

I would perform at bachelor or birthday parties as a burlesque dancer, often popping out of a cake. This one person owned a house with a large pyramid shaped house made from concrete and steel. It turned out the house belonged to his late uncle, who left it to the client in his will. His uncle followed a ‘70s “Pyramid Power” movement or something such as that.

My brother was on the opposite end of that scenario once. A pair of evangelists came to the door of the house he and a couple of friends had been renting since they graduated. While my brother was standing at the open door explaining that no one there was interested in religion, one of them gasped, pointed, and squeaked: "They're alive!" The boys had a pair of juvenile iguanas at the time, that often roamed freely around the house. One of their favourite places was to hang out on top the living room curtain rod, and apparently one of them had just woken up from its afternoon nap.

A friend of mine use to work for a thrifting company that collected items (be it books, furniture, music, etc.; anything saleable) only from rich/wealthy/high-end clients. One day he was dispatched to a Jewish man's home, and in his home was nothing but crates upon crates, -- upon crates, in every room -- of things that pertained only to black people; be it books, pictures, statues, patents, albums, more things than I can name, and even unmentionable/creepy things a normal person would never imagine having in their home. When my friend asked why he had all these things, his response was that his job for the past few decades has been to study black people. He would not reveal who he works for, but advised that the reason is above the average man's comprehension, and thus advised my friend that he shouldn't worry his little average mind about it.

Oh, another great patient memory was changing a patients morphine patch, which entails me rolling her to the side because we alternate the back of shoulders. Ya, there was a crack pipe under her. I reported her and declined to go back. I understand she is hospice, so her being addicted wasn't. However, medication on a drug high is something I could lose my license over or cut myself and get God knows what from the broken pipe.

The woman who lost her husband and was having renos done might have spent the rest of her money and insurance that her husband left her. Someone I knew lost their husband at a pretty young age and the widow was left raising their young daughter. After he passed, she went wild spending money, a couple renos, paid vacations for her and her friends and after a vacation that she paid for she would buy all the girls who went on vacations an expensive thank you for coming gifts. One of the renos was a scrapbook room, she bought every single thing you could want for scrapbook including expensive cameras. She never took any photog classes. Anyway, this went on for 2 years until she was flat broke. She had to sell their 500k house, pay off debts because she spent above and beyond what her husband had left her, and now her daughter and her live in a one bedroom apartment in a not very nice part of town. I know this woman through my sister and was mortified none of their group of friends ever spoke to her about her wild spending, they could have cared less, they were just reaping the benefits of spending spree. Im sure she did this because she was grieving. Yeah, my sweet sister was one of them and when I said something to her she just said, it's none of my business what she does with her money but if she wants to spend it on me, im not going to complain. Btw, my sister and I are way different people, I got stories, but this isn't the right place

I remember a story a friend of mine told me. He was a plumber, and was working with one fella. He seemed normal, with a really tidy house, clean carpets, and just needed some help with one pipe that needed to be updated in the basement. When my friend went down to the basement… it was pristine, and decked out like a playroom. A pinball machine, kid’s toys on the floor, a bar decked out with virgin drink materials. The guy took a minute to explain, he was choking up. His wife and young daughter had died a year ago in a car accident, and this was the family playroom. He rarely went down there, but he didn’t have the heart to get rid of it. My friend just began to cry. He felt really bad for the guy, and after fixing the pipe, no problem, he gave him some numbers to nearby therapists, if he ever needed someone to talk to. The guy was grateful… I hope he’s doing ok. My friend never forgot that one, it just struck him so hard.

I've done property management on and off for last 20 years. Back when I first started like first or second week, senior guy taking me to get started on an abandoned apartment. 2 bedroom unit the second bedroom has been turned into sex dungeon. It had ropes, rubber masks every dildo you can imagine and a 7 foot tall cross with places to put restraints. Now the guy I am with both him and his wife work at this property and he is a dirty old man. He starts gathering up the items in the dungeon like a boy on Christmas day. He is so excited to take them all home. Next day maybe few days later I see his wife. I ask what did she think about her husband new toys he found. "He not coming near me with those. He can use them on himself." It's still hilarious to this day.

Unfortunately in my story it was my home. Fortunately, it wasn't as bad as most of these stories. I'd gotten up for work and thought I had more time than I did, so I folded up my laundry, noticed I was going to miss the bus to work and dashed out the door. Then one of my patients is talking about renting a property in my city and it hit me - it was my inspection day and I had left all my underwear in little piles all over the bed - a pile of regular briefs for work save the pair I was wearing, a pile of fancy briefs for nights out (ya know, just in case anyone sees them), and a pile of jockstraps for date nights. That's embarrassing enough but then it hit me that I'd opened the underwear draw to put things away and as I'd not put things away the draw was probably still open, adult toy visible at the back. I finished up with the patient and rang the office to ask them to move the inspection but it was too late, they'd started with my apartment. Then they asked why I wanted it moved - with my brain dying of embarrassment I couldn't think of an excuse so simply told them the truth (minus the toy bit hoping they wouldn't notice). The next day I got an email with the inspection photos that were sent to my landlord, just like ever other inspection. You can definitely see something you shouldn't in the back of said draw! I emailed back an apologised profusely and I got a reply saying it was fine and not to worry but I never had an inspection at that apartment again - I moved, and went with a different letting agent just to avoid seeing any of the guys from that office again. Its a shame, I loved that apartment and moving was a huge mistake - all because of a simple mistake and a lot of embarrassment. Don't make the same mistake - put your drawers away, and if you don't do not feel embarrassed - after hearing these stories I now realise it could have been a lot worse!

My grandmother and I had to clean up after my aunt and her daughter once after they moved out of a property grandmother owned. It was nasty. I mean, feces in buckets level nasty. Another time, my mother and I had to clean up another family owned property the pair had trashed out after they left that place as well. Clothes, disgusting, dirty, Goodwill-clearance clothes scattered in piles all over the floors. Filthy dishes in the sink, never touched after whatever original use. Disgusting grime and filthy kitchen. My mother and the rest of the family don’t talk with any of my mother’s sisters anymore. Her oldest one is a paranoid schizophrenic who’s been in and out of the mental ward for years. The one mentioned here above is a habitual criminal who also abused my grandmother numerous times throughout the years, both her and her daughter had forged checks from the family business numerous times, multiple drug issues, armed robbery charges, assault charges, you name it. But the last straw was when after my grandmother died, the third sister showed her true colors and dragged out bullshit litigation just to eat away into what inheritance was coming because she was rightfully written out of the Will. She had been using my grandmother’s bank card as a piggy bank because the last few years of her life, my grandmother suffered from severe dementia. We tried ourselves to care for her, but there were some final straws and she had to be put into a nursing home. This aunt accused us of ditching her for financial gain when she had been eating away at her limited social security income for over a year. The sad thing is, that aunt’s oldest son, despite having had drug issues in the past, has always been a cool guy I’ve always really gotten on with. His little brother started having some pretty concerning behavioral issues in his teenage years, sadly. Blocking his bedroom windows, claiming voices were speaking to him from his non-powered computer, been caught hitchhiking a couple times. Suspect schizophrenia but can’t be sure there. Haven’t heard about any of them since fallout though.

This is a story my friend who used to deliver pizzas told me, but apparently there used to be this middle-aged woman who orders pizzas pretty often and always opens the door only wearing an apron and NOTHING else. Like, completely naked except she`s wearing an apron. None of his coworkers wanted to go to her house so he always ended up doing it, and she was dressed like that every single time. Again, this isn`t my story so it`s sorta off topic& not something I witnessed myself but he isn`t kind of a guy who lies a lot, so I assume it`s real.

In the mid 70s we were delivering a big floor model TV to a customer, I forgot the van needed gas or wasn't told, but I felt the engine dying and looked at the gauge, made a hard right turn into the gas station and the TV tilted and got a ding in the wood from the rib in the wall of the van. AAAAAARRRRGGGHHH. I was going to have to explain that and that we would get it fixed. I was sweating it, till we got to their house. What a pig sty. The car looked like it had just been detailed, the lawn looked like people could get lost in there. I knock and when he opened the door, the dog stuck his face to the screen for a breath of fresh air. Inside was nasty with dirty dishes everywhere. We set up the TV and I had to call the shop to find out where the sensitivity control for the remote was. This was back in the days of the clicker remote. He said the phone was in the kitchen. I go in there and dishes are piled everywhere, I couldn't find the phone, then I saw the cord and started to follow it. The phone was in the sink under dishes. I didn't even want to hold the phone to my face, it was so nasty. We finally got it all set and left, we drove with the windows down all the way back, just to force more fresh air up our noses.

Freezers, workshop, meat grinder? In a wooded area? Come on... People hunt! People that hunt regularly have rooms where they prep the meat of their kills. If it's an area where multiple people are hunting he might even be multiple hunters sharing that room. Probably missed an opportunity to get some great game for a low price or even as a tip. These rooms can look a bit like a serial killers playroom... The one I know has the fridge, the meat grinder, stainless steel workbench, pulley on the ceiling, knives, pair of large loppers... Yea... You need those for bones. Helped with butchering two roe deer so far as my boyfriend recently got his hunting license and a guy in his sports club got him to use the hunting grounds he's assigned to. (Hunting laws in Germany are tricky to explain in a random comment lol). So yea... While it might look sketchy for me it's definitely a harmless hunters butchery room.
