Pepakura basics, episode 1.5
kind of a separate followup video on scaling.
i thought i'd make a separate video on this one because scaling is still one of the harder things to do.
hopefully this will provide some help in your scaling and pepakura endeavours.

Thank you for making this video. The scaling was the main reason I stayed away from Pepakura; but, with your tips and the fact that Designer 4 allows me to use inches instead of mm, it's much easier now.

Great job Wayne!! I've watched quite a few videos and none of the other Foam Builders address the issue of scaling a pepakura model for a single dimension. I'm new to foam building (but i'm an old guy :D ) and I was thinking that the only way to resize a single dimension was to do something similar, but you break it down and easily explain it. I like your videos because you fill in the knowledge gaps from the other more well known channels. Keep up the good work and if I ever present at a local convention, I'll be sure to give your channel a shout-out!!

Can attest to the need to account for the thickness of the material. I didn't do that with a helmet build I made, and I am now the proud owner of an AWESOME helmet.... that absolutely crushes my nose haha.

Oh, one additional thing. That body caliper made not have been invented by you, but incorporating it into your video is genius!! I've watched too many videos of people using rulers or tape measures, both of which have issues with using single handed or accuracy issues with actually getting an accurate measurement.

thx bro....awsome tut again....pepakura is sometimes thinking outside the box because every other person has different dimension....when i work with foam and i have this problem i cut the foam and add foam on the spot.....but your way is a litle more advanced
@WaynesWorkshop
@WaynesWorkshop 7 жыл бұрын
your way is just as good but just leaves 2 extra seam lines on the part, in a non conspicuous area its ok but sometimes its just so out there that seamless is just more neat :)

I have a question for you, I want to make the armor of Reinhardt from the game Overwatch as a costume. But how do I scale his entire armor?? (I have noted that he is a big character but still would like to know so I wont mess up) any help would be much appreciated, Thanks!
@WaynesWorkshop
@WaynesWorkshop 7 жыл бұрын
you could use pepakura for that, however armorsmith would be a better option for it. armorsmith lets you adapt a avatar inside the program to your actual height/width etc and let you increase sizes and patterns that you then drag on to a certain bodypart. you just gave me an idea for a next video :P

If you could do that for your next video that would help me out a lot! I would highly appreciate it.

I have a question for you, I am trying to make halo 3 odst gauntlets out of Eva foam but the templates are too small or most of the time will not fit on the paper for me.... can you please help me. Thank you
@WaynesWorkshop
@WaynesWorkshop 5 жыл бұрын
you can upscale in pepakura by hitting ctrl + L and its ok if templates go off 1 piece of paper and continue on the other, you can also turn on "print allignment marks" in print and paper settings to help you allign and stickytape them back together once its printed.

here in pepakura I'm trying to put the measurements of a car mold in real scales, but for example when I change the Height measurement to a measurement I want, automatically the Width measurement changed its size without my permission, and I wanted to put it the Height measurement at 44.9 and Width at 80.9, but I can't put the real measurements of the car, because when I put a measurement automatically the other changes by itself, what do I do?

New to Pepakura. I see files and the parts, but I can't seem to fathom how an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper translates into say a size 42" chest, or a 7/58 head..What am I missing?
@ryanlaurel710
@ryanlaurel710 4 жыл бұрын
Parts that are bigger than an 8.5 x 11 space are printed on multiple pages and then cut and joined together to create the full template. I use cardstock and scotch tape.

You can find templates for the costume you want on a forum, and then access them from pepekura. Then print the templates, trace them on foam (or any material really, as long as you have the tools), then cut them out and assemble and paint! Easy!
