To anyone wondering why the bird is wearing a helmet it is for safety, because just like dogs, even if they are well trained they can still turn on the owner and attack, it’s in there dna, so no it’s not animal abuse, in fact most owners of these birds use them, it actually keeps the bird calmed down, and prevents the risk of injury or the bird hurting someone

@fireflysparks1105 it's been a while since you asked, but the birds have a little harness made out of Teflon ribbon tape that sits under the feathers against their skin that has a small clip on it. The harness is typically installed at the start of the hunting season and then cut off at the end of the season. There are also tail mounts, where the little clip is glued to a tailfeather, and ankle mounts, where it's just attached to the anklet the same way a bell is.
