This channel is underrated - the videos are well filmed and edited, instructions are clear with animated graphics and backed by data and research. You guys have great energy and obviously enjoy what you are doing and in return makes us enjoy the video more. There are a lot of tennis lessons on youtube focusing on what not to do and the negative vibe makes me not want to play at all. I do think sometimes the jokes and outtakes distract us from the really nice insights and maybe it'll be better to keep them in a B-reel at the end but that's just my opinion.

This is a classic tail wags dog fallacy. keep doing what they suggested you will only get a rotator cuff tear and early retirement from tennis.

It is funny that 5.2% speed contribution due to forearm pronation is called massive technique and game change, while 54.2% speed contribution thanks to upper arm internal rotation should have been emphasized more. Imaging 5% of improvement of any technique means nothing for most of us. A misguiding tennis technique video here!

@@ve1803 Nope, you're wrong. I've been pronating since I watched their videos and it put ZERO pressure on the shoulder when combined with let drive and proper trophy pose and racquet drop.

OMG, just found you guys and wish I had sooner. I love the energy and enthusiasm combined with the science behind things. You break it down very nicely and I love the graphics. Personally I like that you also have fun in your videos as you're just the type of coach I'd love to have. And you're right, getting the blueberries on the pancakes properly is key to a good service game.

I believe that with the proper grip and being loose enough, leading on edge and pronation occur naturally. I have a feeling all of the top servers when they were young didn't even know what pronation was, but they were able to be loose enough to implement the correct mechanics early on.
@DavidBreneisen
@DavidBreneisen Жыл бұрын
Probably, I was never taught pronation and do it, but not to the extreme amount that the pros do which feels pretty unnatural without specifically training it.
@capricornmagic63

I agree with this 100%. I'm pretty sure no one told Stan Smith, Dick Stockton, Chip Hooper, Yannick Noah, Boris Becker, Ivanisevic, Sampras and so many others about pronation. Tennis coaches today try too hard to be all-knowing and I have a feeling that they would complicate rather than simplify things. This guy in particular I find annoying he seems immature and giggles like an idiot.

I really appreciate all of the biomechanics as someone who deals with medicine on a daily basis (physician), this makes more sense to someone like myself. I think a lot of this is information is instituted in the techniques by top coaches without delving to the young players "why we do what we do". Again, thank you for this phenomenal explanation.

The serve is probably the most complex stroke in tennis utilizing pretty much every part of the body. Legs, hips, back, shoulder, forearms, and wrist. It's like sending a shockwave of force from the ground through your body to your hands to get maximum racquet head speed. And this channel explains it very thoroughly. 👍

samprus is using a short axis pronation which is the way I do according to my coach, it is like the weapon of Bruce Lee, to accelerate the racket head speed by shorten the length or the radius suddenly.
@RacquetFlex
@RacquetFlex 2 жыл бұрын
That is a great point indeed! If you have the shoulder mobility, strength and joint stabilization, I've noticed it to be one of the best types of post-contact rotations that also creates so much spin (hence Sampras' deadly kick) 😉

Conceptually one should get more speed by continuing internal rotation past contact due to not slowing down into contact but the racquet head slows down so much at impact that one can probably go into impact at full speed and still have very little external rotation past impact. The main reason for involuntary internal rotation past release in throwing is deceleration and that just isn’t an issue with serving due to how much the racquet slows at impact (and because the hand isn’t moving as fast given that a racquet is much heavier than a baseball.)
