Oh my word, this is awesome. I'm only half way thru and I just ha to comment. The idea of only lifting your shoulder to 110 degrees is soooo clear, and requires a torso movement to get the contact point up. It totally makes sense, brilliant. Never seen that before. 👏👏👍👍

Look, I'm already a big fan. But this is your best video EVER. I love the tech stuff, scientific references, the graphics (!), the pro clips, the patter, the music, the outtakes, EVERYTHING. You guys really, really know your stuff when it comes to the biomechanics of tennis, and it shows. And you know how to have fun. But the production value is truly UNSURPASSED. Nowhere on KZfaq do we see anything that can hold a candle to what you all have put out there. Top notch. Well done, boys. Very, very well done.

Copying in a comment I made on one of your other videos because the two together helped me. Awesome video. I love how you explain the technical details so thoroughly. The power and inconsistency in my serve has always fluctuated. After watching this video, I hit one practice session then played a match the next day where I was 70-80% on my first serve, and they almost never came back. For context, I've probably been playing at 40-60% first serve % this year, sometimes while losing power. This video as well as the "How to Generate EFFORTLESS POWER On The Tennis Seve In 3 Steps" helped me understand the serve so much better and simplified my approach. I also love the PhD level explanations sprinkled in with an occasional Beavis and Butthead laugh. It's endearing, keeps it light and funny.

Wrist position is new and the vertical racquet contact is also new to me in that I had my racquet too upright at contact which prevented me from using my long axis rotation to accelerate my racquet head. No wonder on my 2nd serve I would hit the net. And with a slightly bent arm and lower toss, I was able to be more effective with getting my serve to pop. Thanks for the tips!

I had watched many videos in the past to learn serve and tried applying the same but didn't get any lead. Post watching this video, I just changed the position of the ball and tried placing it a few inches forward. Since then, I have been hitting 3-4 aces in a set. Still a lot of practice is required to make a perfect first serve. Thanks.

I've always been confused about "pronation" and it never gave me more power. Now I know why. At contact my racket and arm were pointing fairly straight up. But now, with your demonstration of the position and angles of the arm and racket at contact make the rotation which produces the pronation very powerful. Also, it was very helpful that you made clear that you want to generate some topspin (and sidespin) on a flat serve, and you demonstrated how to do this. I have not seen any other serve video talk about this, even though it's obvious that elite players do this. Altogether an AMAZING video.

Really good lesson. Appreciate that you cover stuff not addressed elsewhere. Very productive and unique drills. Hoping you can clarify: Drill 1 Contact. Your racquet is perpendicular to your arm in this drill. Your actual serve position has a bigger arm/racquet angle @ 11:13. The perpendicular angle works for the drill, but why refer to "your serve contact ... your racquet tilted slightly"? Drill 2 Freeze. The freeze requires lots of deceleration and stress on the shoulder and arm. (The deceleration of Drill 3 is even greater.) How do you deal with this stress with your students?
