UPDATE: 2019 WOW!!! I have never thought that this video would become my most popular and most viewed video on my channel. I guess people really are interested in Century III Mall. A shame though... It was like the pen-ultimate Pittsburgher mall (as well as the largest in the greater-Pittsburgh area)! Pretty much everybody in Pittsburgh knew all about C3! It was like the place to go. And now it is completely abandoned (with the exception of "JCPenney", deja-vu the former Washington Mall in Washington, PA--even though I'm hearing rumors that Penney's may go next due to a new round of store closings) and actually has been condemned by the boroughs of West Mifflin and Pleasant Hills! Thanks a hell-of-a-lot Moonbeam for letting a Pittsburgh-area landmark shopping mall/shopping center go into neglect F**KING A-HOLES!!!
Also even more sadder news relating to this store in this video; it has been COMPLETELY RUINED by a sprinkler-system failure and suffered severe water damage, so bad that they "literally" had to totally gut the store and now it doesn't even look anywhere close to what it did in this video I did back in 2016. Even the "green exit-signs" (which I highlighted a little bit in this video) are all gone now too! You can probably make out a few details of where everything was; but as for the ceilings in the store, they are all gutted-out!
BTW... If you are curious on how Macy's C3 looks like now take a look at this video which in some parts highlight what has happened to the former Kaufmann's/Macy's store since the recording of this video: • Century 3 Mall Update ...
So with that being said: R.I.P. Century III Mall 1979-2019

*R.I.P Century III Mall* 1979-2019 (probably soon to be demolished and replace by some warehouse, like maybe an Amazon concentration camp-I mean... "Fulfillment center" like another former Eddie DeBartolo mall [Randall Park in Ohio] was recently; or an industrial park of some sort.)

Nathan the mall is officially closed now 👎 there are literally no stores in the mall. Dick’s and Penny’s are still there and that’s it. The few remaining last month were a vape store, comic book store and some massage place. They were given a 30 day notice to vacate almost 30 days ago. There was a water main break recently. Then an inspector posted a notice that it was unsafe and uninhabitable. So sad to see it go. The local borough is very upset about it. Moonbeam owes thousands in taxes and hasn’t ever followed through on anything they say they’re gonna do. Slum lords. It’s a dumb, roof leaks everywhere, etc

Well unfortunately JCPenney is gone now too as well; now C3 is an abandoned mall. From what I heard, it may actually be the largest abandoned mall in all of, not just the United States; but all of North America. The largest since Randell Park Mall (another former Eddie DeBartollo mall) outside of Cleveland, Ohio; but of course THAT IS GONE NOW, and in place of it is an industrial park and I think also an Amazon concentration camp-I mean "fulfillment center" **ahem.

That store must have been struggling even while it was open because parts of the upper level were walled off

Yeah it kinda seemed that way. TBH... I'm not sure when they started closing off sections of the store. Maybe around the time when Macy's took it over? That's what they did to the old furniture gallery and parts of the former Kaufmann's at Millcreek Mall.

*C3 UPDATE* : I've been getting some more information on the mall lately that the vacancy rate is increasing rapidly lately. Now the whole third level of the mall is pretty much abandoned now! They don't even have any of the lights on up there anymore after seeing a photo that was taken recently. The future of Century III Mall is looking really bleak and grim. Pretty sad for what was the largest shopping mall in the greater Pittsburgh area; so with that being said: RIP Century III Mall 1979-2018. You will be missed.

Thank you very much for the documentary. But would be you able to focus more on the store than the floor? Viewing forward and not down gives a much better experience. Again, thanks for all of your documentaries....
@NathanDavisVideos
@NathanDavisVideos 7 жыл бұрын
About that... The reason why I had to point down at the floor was because there were employees nearby and I didn't really wanted to get in trouble for filming the store because at this store they had a pretty strict rules on photography and filming which meant I wasn't aloud to record videos inside the store. Trust me... I would know. After all I did learn the hard way. So yeah... I wish I could have done a better video of the store (including the freight elevator which I would believe was original to the whole store from 1979 unlike the passenger which was an Otis Series 1 from probably at least the late 1980s/early '90s when they renovated the store). The only problem was there were employees everywhere! What I really wanted to do was to show off this really cool room that had like a curved glass window which I believe was an old beauty salon which was located at the bottom of the escalators. I could kick myself for not getting a video of it! So I'm sorry about that. By the way... Your welcome for the video.

*C3 April* *2018 Update* : Bad news guys... The thing that we dread the most is officially happening... Coming June of this year -- Century III Mall will be no more. It is going to be closing and will be heading towards a sheriff's sell. So if you wanna do a video of the mall and want to pay your respects to the place before it is utterly demolished or even abandoned; I suggest you get here as soon as possible. I might be making a video on disguising the unfortunate closure of C3 Mall in the near future; hopefully I can also visit the place one last time. Till then I will end this update with the following statement: R.I.P. Century III Mall: 1979-2018 - You will be missed...

@@ECFE So that's what the freight elevator was! A Westinghouse! So that must mean the ORIGINAL passenger was a Westy too! Speaking of which; I wonder where it was originally located at in the store? I'm pretty sure the Otis is in the 1990s addition to the store, which explains why it's a Series 1.
@NathanDavisVideos
@NathanDavisVideos 5 жыл бұрын
@@ECFE BTW... From what I heard now; the mall is actually abandoned. And ever since Dick's closed-up (without any notification, expect for maybe one or two), the only tenant that is left in the mall is JCPenney. I just wonder how long Penney's is going to remain since I heard they aren't really doing that well lately...

And what is really sad about Century 3 is that it was consider the "ICONIC Pittsburgher mall!" Even more than Ross Park 'arguably.' Matter of fact; it was actually the largest in the whole greater-Pittsburgh area (well in terms of square-footage, at least...) It a shame that FUCKING MOONBEAM in their "shady business practices" left the place to rot! They should at least be sued because of it...
