And rising costs, the worsening housing crisis, and the government treating Irish people like second class citizens in their own country. There's something very wrong about droves of immigrants being accommodated while droves of Irish people are having to emmigrate because there is no prospects of affordable housing for them in the near or even distant future.

15:24 The majority of people think 'of course, of course Ireland would fall apart without immigration' I think you may be correct that people believe that, but it is demonstrably false. Many people have swallowed the diversity is our strength line. Immigration corresponds with economic development/opportunity, because it follows the economy not the other way around. If immigration plummeted or was stopped, we would find new ways to accomplish the same tasks. There would be a realignment of pay (nurses for example) as we could no longer rely on low cost staff from abroad. This would affect emigration too. The country wouldn't fall apart. You are absolutely aligned with the far-right when you start asking reasonable questions. The conclusions you draw from the answers may differ from the for-roysh, and that's ok too, but please keep asking questions.

During the Dublin City Council elections in 2019 it emerged that a Soc Dem candidate, Ellie Kisyombe, had lied about her asylum background and her education details. She had applied for asylum in the UK and then applied in Ireland after being arrested in the UK. She claimed to have attended a University that stated, in response to a Freedom of Information request, that there was no record of her attendance at any time After a decision by the party to review her background, several Soc Dem councillors said they stood in "solidarity" with her, and threatened to resign over a proposal to suspend her campaign Following the review the party allowed her to run after she agreed to change inconsistencies in her campaign literature. Kisyombe said her campaign was disrupted and she was disappointed with the way the party leadership treated her After she was granted leave to remain in Ireland she subsequently took a trip back home to Malawi She had a charge of assaulting a Ukrainian mother of three who worked in the Baleskin reception centre thrown out over a garda no-show on 16 November 2023. The Ukrainian woman said she was disappointed that the gardaí failed to keep her informed about the case's progress. Gardaí are required to keep alleged victims of crimes informed about the progress of cases under the 2017 Victims of Crimes Act Asked about the case being struck out after the prosecuting garda failed to show up and its failure to keep the victim informed of the case's progress, a garda spokesperson said it did not comment on individual cases

@seanmcgabriel207
@seanmcgabriel207 29 күн бұрын
About a year ago I commented on here that whilst I support Gript financially with a modest donation every month, I felt that both John and Sarah still in effect inhabited what is in effect a "neo liberal" bubble, right they're not lefties, but they clearly are still carrying an awful lot of leftist baggage, as is the case with neo - liberals a lá the likes of David Cameron, Rishi Sunak, et al, I am forced to use UK examples because this strand of opinion is thin in Ireland. The left have created a hegemonic dominance within the Irish political class, straddling the political parties and the institutions of the state and NGO's etc. The people went along with this to some degree, but now they are reacting strongly and viscerally against that. What people, who are not "woke" are doing is they are talking and communicating via social media in particular on WhatsApp utilising tweets and tiktok clips in the much larger, distinctly "politically incorrect" Overton window which has opened up pre and post referendum.. Conversations are now brutally honest, and I'm hearing things said by former conformist "RTE news is truth" folk which would have been unthinkable 6 months ago. John and Sarah, I think you are lagging FAR FAR behind the opinions of Gripts growing listenership. It's not just SF that are out of touch, I feel you both are. Sarah's mythical "reasonable" people who have "no problems" with "Ukrainians" and "Africans" are diminishing in numbers and no longer control the conversations at street and community levels. People DO have a problem with these groups, particularly if they DO NOT work in a virtually full employment economy, and compete for housing, school places, and GP visits, a fact which is assisted by their apparently unlimited access to our already under strain social supports infrastructure. This is further exacerbated by the correct and valid view that this uber woke state is actively discriminating against white Irish people indigenous to this island. Thus, as the overton window widens, people are reverting to a form of nationalism that sadly both of you do not remotely comprehend.

On the topic of campaign professionalism, I'm not sure I entirely agree. Many voters are not interested in RTE and mainstream outlets, so its understandable that candidates are looking at other avenues to promote themselves. Will that be enough to get them the votes, time will tell. Meanwhile, established candidates are doing an excellent job of destroying their own chances.

Guys! Thats part at 15 mins blew me away!! This is 100% how i feel, i love seeing and hearing "foreign" people" with thick irish accents. Multiculturalism is a great thing and has made Ireland a better place, but it crossed a line at some point, the sheer volume has gotten out of control, the damage that's being done is unforgivable. Even foreign people who have lived and worked here for years don't want to see this. I feel sorry for the tourists that pay a fortune to come here, and they see what Ireland is really like, we once had a magical reputation, but our politicians have destroyed us.. and not just this generation of scumbags, this goes back decades with scandal after scandal, its rotten to the core. Slimey greedy politicians, with all the money they wasted and stole we could have proper infrastructure across the whole country, we could have more affordable housing, we could have proper tourist attractions, not the shameful craggy island shite spread across the country, and it could have been done years ago. Sorry for the rant 😅

Around 26:00 - it's naive to think that people changing their mind about abortion is unusual or suspicious, because plenty of people are against it until their daughter/sister/wife needs one. People often don't think much about it, but when they see their female relative being forced through a pregnancy knowing that her much-wanted baby won't survive outside the womb, or being forced to carry her rapist's baby, all of a sudden, they're all for choice. In the same vain, women who have had an abortion sometimes change their view on whether other women should be allowed the choice they had, because their experience was so psychologically and/or physically traumatic. Aside from that, your assessment of Martin is spot on.
