Can one actually adjust the tie rod ends on the car once placed on this rack? Or is it strictly from measuring only?

Hello! Yes, you can adjust a tie rod end. A Hunter alignment rack features turnplates and slip plates that can be unlocked while performing adjustment corrections. We have more information on these features at this website: www.hunter.com/alignment-racks/

How does "clamping off center" not affect accuracy? What if your rim is curved. Wouldn't clamping off center throw off the measurements?

Hunter's Three Dimensional Target is what allows for off center clamping by making it possible for the Hawkeye Elite Aligner to calculate wheel center, rather than depending on the user to always clamp centered. This feature is an industry exclusive to Hunter.

Is it true that only some machines can print out pass/fail instead of measurements? Thanks in advance.

All of Hunter's Aligners display and print alignment readings (numbers). These machines are designed to be used with an alignment rack or suitable bay with Turnplates and Slipplates to make alignment adjustments. Hunter also offers a line of Inspection Equipment called Quick Check that is designed to evaluate wheel alignment condition resulting in a pass/fail recommendation (no numbers). The Quick Check line of equipment does not require an alignment rack or turnplates and is designed to provide a quick, accurate evaluation of the vehicle in almost any bay in your shop. Quick Check does not provide guidance or software necessary to adjust or correct an out of alignment vehicle, only to check it. An Aligner as described above would be needed to correct any failing vehicles.

It is a very good machine alas the operatives mainly on govt youth scheme are wmployed not able to utilise the system and understand thereby unable to get the best out of the system. The charge is £50 and extra if they have to do any tweeks!
