This is for everyone- but in particular my melanin sisters who cope with iron deficiency anaemia - it’s not normal, please do not ignore the signs
I also have many Black & South Asian women in my clinic who have “pica" which is a term that describes craving and chewing substances that have no nutritional value - such as ice, clay, soil or paper.
Craving and chewing ice, known as pagophagia, is often associated with iron deficiency too
Again, please do not ignore this symptom in women & girls of reproductive age
