The 2021 BMW X5 xDrive 45e PHEV has a range of at least 45 km, all the comforts, luxuries and technology of a gasoline X5 and a plethora of power.
Would you pick this over a non-hybrid X5?

Just curious, I was about to order a 2022 hoping for the re-design with upgrades, but found out it would be for the 2023. Do you prefer the 22 over the changes being made? Also what options and color combinations did you choose? I am hoping for more wheel options which I read were coming...Congrats!!

What would the average mpg be with one full charge and 300 to 350 miles of driving? How well does the vehicle recharge the battery while driving like a normal hybrid does. My use case is rideshare, I have level two charging at home but would only be doing it at night after 300 or 350 miles of driving

I like the idea of a hybrid X5 but the economy doesn’t stack up - 11.5 L/100km is nowhere near not good enough. I have a 2018 G05 X5 M50d that has done mid 8s over 3.5 years of ownership. I was thinking the 45e could be my next car - I could commute on full EV but on longer trips,the battery would deplete and the inefficient petrol engine is then working harder dragging a dead battery around which hammers the Economy. I’m quite surprised and disappointed to see mid 11s…….maybe I’ll save some money and just go for the 30d.

Hi Jay, 16 AMP charging for 6 hours? Wow, say goodbye to your electric bill. I use my basement during the winter to dry my clothes to save on hydro bill plus it keeps the house not too dry in bitter cold day with moisture from the clothes. 😂 On the positive side, I really like the interior. Heated cup holder, BMW can be very innovative, why didn’t other manufacturer think of this. I like the crystal gear shift too. I underestimated BMW with their capabilities but it is definitely not in my Scotty Kilmer budget at 100K. It is definitely a vehicle to lease not for ownership. Lease for 2-3 years and return it with a BIG smile back to the dealer.

I can’t recall the last time I used my dryer. Everything gets hung up to air dry. Agree re: cool innovations. No pandemic, and this makes 100% sense. Working from home will be the new modern so I’m not sure the popularity of PHEV’s will retain their strength.

I am not convinced the work from home is going to be perk for long term for many people. Personally, I cannot wait till I go back to the office and interact with my colleagues face to face...come to think of it, rolling out PHEV vehicle is great timing to see how well it transition from working from home to the office environment once things open up. It will be baby step...instead of this concept of electric ONLY vehicle...the infrastructure is no where close to what they should be.

Mercedes has heated cup holders for 10 years I would say, at least 8. 😊

Where do people think electricity comes from? A small margin comes from water dams and nuclear BUT most of it still comes from burning coal and natural gas. It just shows you how twisted this EV technology really is and more twisted is battery technology.

Only one question that I can't find answer to. What is real mpg without any charging? One month of driving without having access to electricity??? Is it better then regular gas X5 or not?

Is my math right? If it takes 18 hours to charge and say you have an 8-5 job you will never be home long enough (save weekends) to fully charge it overnight? How would one get a faster charger for home?
@johnstyles1711
@johnstyles1711 2 жыл бұрын
1444-2054 18 hours?! No it’s 6 hours. You can change the 24 hour clock if it’s not working for you.
@natmonee
@natmonee 2 жыл бұрын
@@johnstyles1711 you can actually watch the video if it works for you. At 14:55 he LITERALLY says it takes 18 hours when using regular charging that comes with the car. That’s what I’m talking about when I ask about how to get a fast charger at home.

@@natmonee the reality is people with EV or PHEV vehicles make that ~$500 one-time investment to have a level 2 outlet installed at their house. Level 1 is really only meant for when traveling and having no other charging options, not for day-to-day charging.
